Last snow day, we tried to make snow ice cream…
and let’s just say it did not become ice cream 😂
Despite numerous iterations (see photo 2 😂) it didn’t freeze, it got weird and foamy, and definitely did not turn into ice cream.
The kids were disappointed — and we felt that together.
But honestly, failure is a gift when we don’t rush past it.
It’s part of learning, creating, and building something new. And when we don’t attach shame to it, kids build something so much deeper than just “getting it right.”
They build resilience. Confidence. Creativity.
They also gain the willingness to try new things, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.
And little by little, fear of failure loses its grip.
Because we’re not only raising curious kids — we’re helping shape resilient adults.
This is the kind of learning we’re making space for at Little Oaks 🤍

🌿 Why Little Oaks 🌿
Little Oaks was created from a desire for something more…
More joy.
More wonder.
More play.
A childhood filled with curiosity, creativity, and meaningful exploration — where learning happens naturally through doing, discovering, and delighting in the world.
Where children are free to create, imagine, build, and try… and in doing so, grow into capable, confident little humans.
We gently weave in faith, connection, and real-life experiences along the way.
This is the kind of childhood we’re creating here 💛

🍃We're starting a Learning pod - A hybrid approach to learning - Join us!🍃
Hi Everyone!
As we looked at Kindergarten options for our own family, we found ourselves wanting something that felt different. Traditional school didn’t feel like the right fit… but full-time homeschooling alone without other families didn’t feel quite right either. We longed for something in between — a small, intentional community where children could truly be children.
So we’re creating it.
This fall, we are launching a small, faith-based learning pod in Kelowna for homeschool children kindergarten to grade thee and are connecting with families who might be looking for a similar alternative.
A learning pod is a small group of children (about 6–8 kids) who meet regularly in a home-based setting with a hired teacher/facilitator. It’s not a traditional school — families remain responsible for their child’s education — but it offers rhythm, community, and shared learning in a safe and nurturing environment.
Inspired by Scandinavian-style play-based learning, our vision is simple: A place where children can grow through curiosity, creativity, outdoor exploration, and play. A place where they learn to love themselves, love others, love God, and delight in His creation. A place where social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual growth happens gently and naturally. A place where curiosity and entrepreneurship are championed.
We plan to meet three days per week for approximately three and a half hours per day. This will be a collaborative, parent-supported community led by a professional facilitator, with fees reflecting the cost of hiring a teacher and maintaining a welcoming, safe space.
If you’ve also been wishing for something “in between,” I would truly love to connect and share more. Please feel free to message me.
P.S. If you know a teacher or ECE who thrives in small-group, play-based, faith-rooted environments, I would be so grateful if you passed this along. We are in conversation with a wonderful candidate but we want to find the right person (for them and for us) for this position! Thanks so much!
If this resonates, I’d love to connect for a fifteen minute phone call! You can message me to find out more or apply here
