scientific culture - adventures in toys, accessories, and geekery! http://scientificculture.etsy.com

After much consideration, I’ve decided it’s time to bid a fond farewell to scientific culture. A lot has changed in the last few years (my chronic illnesses, my family priorities, my nonexistent free time, and the whole pandemic/retail/crafting/selling world) and I’m just not in a place where mass producing anything creative is right for me anymore.

Yes, I still think cute science crafts and cheery rainbow sorted accessories are awesome and of course I still enjoy sassy/vintage/feminist embroidery hoop art but it’s time for something new. I have always (and will always) be passionate about the weird and wonderful things I create but moving forward, I’m looking at spending time cultivating my skills to make one of a kind pieces. Perhaps one day I’ll be able to potentially sell them at a price that reflects the time and effort taken to make them in a way that fits my lifestyle (like consignment/online product drops). I am forever thankful for all the wonderful people I’ve met and sold to during my scientific culture crafting journey and am looking forward to what is next for me.

(Oh and I’m changing my social media handles to just my name, making Instagram private so I w**d out spam/creeper followers, and at some point will be clearing out a s**t ton of old stock I have squirreled away. I would be thrilled if you’re still interested in “following” me but I’m switching things up for a happier and more relaxed version of the creative person I want to be)

Well crafty pals, my hyperemesis pregnancy has officially taken over my life and I’ve had to back out of my planned holiday craft shows. I’m hoping to be back at it by the spring (even reopening my Etsy shop all going well), but time will tell how running a craft business with two little ones will pan out. Thank you for your continued support - and here’s to hoping the hiatus doesn’t last too long!

Despite the (pretty much awful) weather, my first time vending at Art in the Park was a success! Saw lots of new and returning faces and dusted off the old display for some fresh air. Now to start prep for November. A big thank you to everyone who popped by!

Come visit me this Sunday from 9-5 in booth #109! This is my only market this summer (next one is Nov 4th) so I extra hope to see you there!

Art in the Park on Canada Day has so much to take in! With over 100 artists and community groups it’s easy to get lost in the excitement. If you’re the kind of person who likes to keep track of your festival fun, we’ve got just the thing for you. Check out the 2018 map for your guide to Canada Day fun!

Don’t feel like planning your route ahead of time? Don’t worry! This map will be available at Art in the Park if you need it.

News! I’m cutting back on the craft markets this year and sticking to the two big ones Kamloops has to offer! July 1st at Riverside Park and Nov 4th at Riverside Coliseum. Any recommendations on what you’re looking for this year? The prep work has begun!

One down - two to go! Bringing a baby to a craft show can be challenging but we did it with minimal meltdowns. Looking forward to Kelowna on the 18th and our last Kamloops show on the 25th! Hooray!
