Westwold Elementary

Hello folks!

On Friday, Sept. 26 starting at 1:00pm the students of Westwold Elementary will be completing a Terry Fox Run on Douglas Lake Rd. We will be running from 3km to 1km. If you want to cheer us on we would love it! There will be two tables (one at 2km and one at Becker Rd at the end of the run) with parents who can accept donations.

If you are working on the DLR or know of people who are, please help us spread the word. We have highway signs that say “Event in Progress” and also vehicles behind us keeping us safe! Staff will be in visi vests also.

An amazing day at outdoor school: collecting specimens to examine under our high powered microscopes, learning about burning rates and chemical reactions, playing capture the bags and building an epic base under a willow hollow compete with the “eternal bog.”

Hot chocolate and hot dog lunch. I love my job!!!

You may not know this … but … the Falkland Pub donated $300 to our school. The money they gave paid for transportation to Pearce Park for outdoor school for the rest of the year! Thank you, Falkland pub! You made learning in our elements possible!

What an amazing day ice fishing with friends and family! It was so special to have the day on the lake with our school. Thank you Blake Buemann, Kelly Bennett, Jacqueline and Branden Gee, John and Neil, all our parents and of course our amazing students who surpassed our expectations for enjoying the day. A HUGE SHOUTOUT to the Falkland Pub for hand delivering pizza for our whole crew. HOT AND DELICIOUS! I love my job. Long Live Westwold School!

I love how creative kids are. For the Westwold Christmas craft fair we were making little ornaments as we do every year. The specific skill we were learning was to use tape to mask areas you didn’t want painted.

I showed them the example on the package and then we started. Our littlest students were the first to get to work with me, and creativity ruled! Our Grade 1 said: “Let’s make this FASHIONABLE!” They sat at the table, making tie dye patterns and flowing hair and ALL the accessories. They showed each other and said: “Ooohhh. That’s fashionable!” Their joy was infectious and soon everyone was creating their own fashions!

And so… instead of Christmas ornaments this year, we have TINY TOONIE FASHIONS!!! Come check out these original designs as well as our baking tomorrow. See you there!

Westwold had a great friend trip to the Wildlife Park!! So many animals, smiles and fun 😁

Gardom Lake field trip!! The kids and staff had so much fun! Orienteering, rock wall climbing and some playground time!!

We had our first swim lessons yesterday! It was so fun and the kids all enjoyed themselves!
