TRADES TRAINING PROGRAM Update | 2026–2027

Hands-On Learning. Practical Skills. New Opportunities Close to Home.

We are excited to announce a new staff member for:

🔹 Hines Creek Composite School
🔹 Worsley Central School
🔹 Menno Simons Community School

Peter Sellers has been teaching trades at NWP for over twenty years. He brings a vast knowledge of a variety of trades and is excited to work with our students. For the 2026-2027 school year, students at all 3 schools will have the opportunity to explore the skilled trades through hands-on, project-based learning right in their own school communities. Students in grades 7-12 will have classes in this program weekly for the entire school year.

Students will have opportunities to explore a variety of trades, including:

⚙️ Mechanics
🔧 Instrumentation
🔌 Electrical
🚰 Plumbing
🪚 Carpentry
…and more!

Under the instruction of an experienced tradesperson and educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience, students will learn by doing—working with tools, completing projects, solving real-world problems, and developing practical skills.

For some students, this may be the first step toward a future career in the trades. For others, it may simply be an opportunity to discover a new interest, build confidence, and learn skills they will use throughout their lives.

In our rural communities, we know the value of hands-on skills, hard work, problem solving, and learning from experienced people. This program continues those values into our schools while giving students another way to discover what they are capable of and where their future might take them.

This program is made possible through partnership with Clear Hills County & Peace River School Division.
