In Canada, June is Brain Injury Awareness Month. Each year national, provincial, and local associations run campaigns to increase awareness about the prevalence of brain injury, the obstacles that exist for those with brain injury, and the need for more services and support at all stages of recovery.
The goal of this campaign is to generate more national awareness and understanding of brain injury, and to raise money to continue developing programs and resources that will improve the lives of all Canadians living with brain injury.
In NS, we are proud to support BIANS - Brain Injury NS - who are committed to building a community of support for brain injuries in Nova Scotia through programs, education, resources, and tireless advocacy for better supports and services for brain injuries across Nova Scotia.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, an opportunity to learn about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis who have lived on this land since time immemorial and whose presence continues to shape Canada today. It is also a moment for reflection and to recognize the ongoing impacts of colonization and to reflect on how we can all contribute to reconciliation.
