Amazing new program through Autism Nova Scotia, spread the word!
Attention Parents: QuickStart Nova Scotia is looking for participants!
What is QuickStart?
• One-on-one parent-mediated coaching program, delivered at no cost to families
• Weekly meetings with Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, and/or Parent Coaches
• 19-week program
Where is the program delivered?
• Delivered in HRM only for pilot year
• Offered in community settings as well as home-based
Eligibility for this program:
(1) Child must have a suspected, provisional, or confirmed diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder; (2) Child must be between the ages of 12 and 31 months at the start of the program; (3) Participants must make a minimum commitment of one immediate caregiver to be in attendance for the course of the program; (4) Participants must reside in the Halifax Regional Municipality; and (5) Participants cannot be enrolled in more than 10 hours per week of services elsewhere.

We have been very fortunate to have met so many wonderful families, professionals, advocates and supporters of increased access to supports in the HRM. Thank you all for everything. HADSS is urgently seeking new staff for clients in various locations around the HRM. Experience with children, ABA, Natural Environment Teaching and PRT (pivotal response) strategies preferred but not required. Energy, enthusiasm and a desire to support individuals with learning differences in gaining communication, social, recreational and daily living skills a must!

4-5 hours per week, one hour per day, Armdale area
6 hours per week, 2 afternoons a week, rotating schedule Monday/Tuesday then Wednesday/Thursday, Lawrencetown area

2-4 hours per week, 2 afternoons per week, beaverbank area
2 hours per week, 1 afternoon per week, Eastern Passage area

Chris Ulmer is helping spearhead a worldwide acceptance movement and is going to be in Nova Scotia from July 7-9! He's looking for families with children with ASD to interview while he's here, so if you'd like to be interviewed please contact him at [email protected].

Have you heard? At the national convention the Liberal party of Canada passed a policy resolution moving that federal health act be changed to include funding and providing of ABA to individuals with Autism. This is amazing news, but it's just the first step. Contact your MP and encourage them to bring this as a bill to the Hosue of Commons.
