Sent on behalf of the Commanding Officer:
To all Former Crewmates and Friends of IROQUOIS,
As many of you are likely aware, IROQUOIS will officially Pay Off from the RCN after 42 years of loyal and dedicated service to Canada. After months of planning on behalf of the ship's company, I can now tell you that the date and time of the ceremony will be 1 May 15, at 1300L. Members of public are most welcomed to attend the ceremony at HMC Dockyard.
The ceremony will be comprised of speeches from high level dignitaries, a final salute to the ship by its crew members, the hauling down of the ship's colours for the last time, and a parade by the ship's company through Dockyard. It will be executed with the utmost care, and be a fitting send off to a ship with an almost unrivaled history and list of achievements within the RCN. The ceremony will also serve as an important bridge in the history of the Navy as we near the end of the transformation of the Halifax Class frigates, which will assume Command and Control responsibilities for the Fleet.
IROQUOIS' following on social media is impressive and I would like to call on all followers to share this important invitation. Former crewmates in area and from all across Canada are highly encouraged to attend the ceremony and a be a part of this momentous occasion. Questions will be responded to via social media, or through regular DND public affairs lines of communication.
Relentless in Chase!
