This design introduces learners to the enduring presence of Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Lakota, Dene, and Métis Peoples connected to Treaty 4 territory. Designed for life on the Plains, this wraparound moccasin reflects a deep understanding of movement, the land, and traditional craftsmanship.

The Inuit kamik is more than footwear—it reflects generations of knowledge, innovation, and adaptation to Arctic environments. This design introduces learners to the enduring relationship Inuit communities have with the land, waters, ice, and animals that have shaped life in the Arctic for thousands of years. Designed for extreme cold, the kamik demonstrates the ingenuity and skill passed down through generations of Inuit women.

This design introduces learners to the enduring presence of Cree Peoples and the many Indigenous Nations connected to Treaty 6 territory, including the Saulteaux, Nakoda Sioux, Blackfoot, Ojibwe, Denesuline, and Métis. This moccasins would have been carefully designed to suit the diverse landscapes of the Plains.

The Coast Salish moccasin would have been crafter to suit the coastal landscape.

Do you know which Treaty territory you live, work, or learn on?

This map shows the municipalities located within the Treaty lands and traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, spanning from the Niagara region to the Rouge River and from Lake Erie to the headwaters of the Thames River.

Find your municipality on the map, identify the Treaty connected to that area, and learn about the original agreement, the Nations involved, and the responsibilities that continue today.

Treaties are not simply historical documents. They are living agreements, and we are all Treaty people.
