Guelph Family Health Study The Guelph Family Health Study is a long-term study designed to follow families over many years.

By the age of five or six, your kids will form eating, exercise and sleep habits that can last a lifetime. The Guelph Family Health Study is testing new ways for kids to learn healthy habits early - habits that can significantly lower your child's risk for disease now and in the future.

A big congratulations to Zach Ribau, our GFHS bioinformatician, and his team on winning the National Health Datathon at , led by .

Teams were provided with temporary, controlled access to biopsy images of breast cancer tissues. With this, Zach and his team’s presentation focused on whether including features extracted from the images into prediction models could improve the prediction of treatment-response. Zach’s team also had the opportunity to present their project alongside UofT and UBC winners.

Ever wonder how someone ends up working in research? 🔬✨

In our latest Career Roadmap, we’re highlighting one of the GFHS team members and the many experiences that shaped her career. Her path began in biochemistry and pharmaceutical research before leading her to Guelph, where a return to school opened the door to new opportunities in nutrition research, hospital food, and eventually the Guelph Family Health Study.

From a 13-year career in pharmaceutical research to travelling across Ontario for a hospital food study, her journey shows that your career doesn’t always follow the path you originally imagined, and sometimes the most unexpected opportunities can lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.
