Remember these, coaches!
4 Mistakes Coaches Can Make
🚫 Pigeonholing Players Too Early
- Locking players into positions too soon can limit their development.
- Let them explore and grow into roles over time.
- Just because a player is tall, that does mean you should keep them as a defence or shooter, and just because a player is short, does not mean they can't play shooter.. Let players grow love for all areas on court regardless of their shape and size.
🚫 Coaches become involved in the session to make up numbers
- You don't need to practice your netball skills, so you being a number in an activity is pointless
- The players need to touch the ball as many times in a session as possible, that reduces if the coach is the passer etc
- if you are working, you are not giving 10 players your full attention
🚫 Forgetting to set expectations with parents early
- Your team culture starts with the sideline.
- Early conversations about support roles, communication, and values make all the difference.
🚫 Not delivering activities that look like the game at training
- Isolated activities might look good, but game-like activities help players transfer skills to game day. - - - -Training with game constraints is a MUST.
