'It's a revolution...
Now more than ever it feels critical to celebrate and bring light to all things black. It is literally a matter of life and death to ensure that we are seen and valued.

Ukubeleka (babywearing) as it's called in my home language is a normal part of Black African culture and central to how we care for children. In my country, South Africa, the most used 'carrier' is still an ordinary towel. Yes, we use and appreciate the addition of modern carriers, slings and wraps but we have been babywearing before they came into existence.

Please stop questioning the way that we have been wearing our babies for centuries. Please stop telling us that it's unsafe. Many white children were raised on the backs of Black women. Give us space to share our stories and listen. Let us share the rich knowledge which has been taught from generation to generation'

Need something to do with the kids while at home? Why not grab your woven wrap and make a hammock under the table.
