We are very excited to welcome our wonderful school community back to school! Staff members will be in the school yard tomorrow morning at 8:30 am to assist students with finding their teachers. Primary students will meet their teachers on the primary yard and junior teachers will be located on the junior yard.

We look forward to welcoming all students to school on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026!
Please read the information below regarding our bell times.
Students are welcome to enter the school at 8:30 am, where they will be greeted by staff and invited to join our official Breakfast Club Dance Party or they may head directly to their locker and classroom. Classes officially begin at 8:45 am.
Our Nutrition Breaks are 40 minutes in length and offer an opportunity for students to eat a packed lunch for 20 minutes and then head outdoors to enjoy our beautiful school yard with their peers for another 20 minutes.
Detailed information about classroom schedules and routines will be shared by the classroom teacher once school begins.
At Redwood Acres Public School we provide all of the learning materials required. Indoor shoes (to ensure safe gym participation), a backpack and a lunch bag are recommended, if possible.

Today marks National Indigenous Peoples Day.

In 1982, the First Peoples of Canada, through their collective voice within the Assembly of First Nations, advocated for the recognition of a national Indigenous solidarity day. This day would acknowledge unity amongst Indigenous Peoples in Canada, reinforce harmony, and strengthen the efforts of a nation-to-nation partnership with the federal Government of Canada.

In 1996, the Governor General of Canada designated June 21st as National Aboriginal Day, and in 2009, the House of Commons passed a motion to declare the month of June as National Indigenous History Month.

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity for all Canadians to actively learn about the achievements and innovations of Indigenous Peoples, and to gain an understanding of the Indigenous lands and territories that we are situated. It is also an opportune time for all Canadians to recognize and join in the celebrations of the resiliency and strength of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in Canada and the Anishinabek within this territory.

The Anishinaabek Nation also proclaimed June 6th as Anishinaabe Giizhigad to annually recognize the sanctioning of the Anishinaabek Chi-Naaknigewin - Anishinaabek Nation Constitution.

We are encouraged to learn more about Indigenous Peoples, particularly the Anishinaabek and the traditional territory where Rainbow District School Board is situated, observe and appreciate Indigenous ways of knowing, and attend one of the many community events that recognize and celebrate the importance of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
