I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that took the time to encourage me through calls, texts or email. THANK YOU to everyone that voted for me and walked beside me in this journey.
This journey has stretched me and pushed me way out of my comfort zone but it has also been a great learning experience. I am thankful that I didn't choose the road of least resistance and that I pushed my fears aside and ran. I appreciate the support from everyone both from within the city and from afar.

Election Day has drawn to a close and official results aren't in yet. No matter the outcome though there are some people that I would like to thank and acknowledge.
First my husband, Loran Swanberg who encouraged and supported me even before I was brave enough to take the first step.
My children, their spouses, and my grandchildren whose unwavering support and enthusiasm has emboldened me and inspired me to fight the good fight! They are my biggest fans and medicine for my soul.
Ashley Hochachka-Litton who I couldn't possibly thank enough. Your insights, encouragement, and technological skills have been absolutely invaluable!
Lora Belyan and Ashley Hochachka-Litton I don't have adequate enough words to convey how much all of your time, efforts and help has meant to me but I hope you both know that you are appreciated and treasured beyond measure.

Advocating for the needs of students, parents and teachers will be an important part of this role. I have a daughter who has been teaching for the past fifteen years, so I am familiar with the demands and importance of this profession. The challenges and complexity of this profession are often unseen to the general public.

As a mother and grandmother, I also know the importance of family and being able to advocate for the unique needs within our community. Bridging the gap between these unique perspectives and equally important roles will be important in fostering a sense of unity and cohesion within our school district.
