GP Tech Careers Pathway Info Session & The Ramenator Opening Night!

We are excited to announce that GP Tech is hosting our first ever Careers Pathway Info Session!

This is an amazing opportunity for families to learn more about the career pathways available to our students at GP Tech and discover the important role we play in helping shape their future.

But that’s not all!

Our Grade 7 & 8 Culinary students are also excited to announce the opening night of The Ramenator!

The Ramenator is GP Tech’s very own student run ramen restaurant, catered and operated by some of our talented culinary students. This exciting business proposal has been created, prepared, and presented entirely by our Grade 7 & 8 Culinary class.

Our students have put an incredible amount of hard work, creativity, and dedication into bringing this project to life, and they are so excited to share it with the GP Tech family!

Come out, support our students, learn about the opportunities available at GP Tech, and enjoy some delicious ramen!

As a new school the last few weeks have been truly amazing yet very challenging. As a small team working behind the scenes, we are watching the conversations around Grande Prairie Technical Institute taking place on social media cause unnecessary reputational damage.

GP Tech is new, the educational model is different, and everyone has questions. Questions about a new publicly funded school are reasonable however causing unnecessary confusion and discrediting an organization is not.

We recognize that, as a new organization, there are areas where our public communication can be stronger. We are continuing to update our website and public resources so families and community members can easily access information regarding our programming, governance, policies, school operations and future plans.

However, the first priority is the students and families who have entrusted GP Tech with their education.

GP Tech is committed to delivering Alberta curriculum through a hands-on, project-based and trades-focused approach. As the high school programming develops, students will be supported in meeting Alberta graduation requirements while also having opportunities to develop practical skills, explore trades and career pathways, and pursue additional workplace and industry-recognized credentials.

Our responsibility is to remain focused on our students, our families and the continued development of the school.

Building a new school is a significant undertaking. The first weeks and months bring learning, adjustment and opportunities for improvement.

We will not pretend that every process will be perfect from the beginning. What we can promise is that we will continue to listen, respond, improve and keep students at the Center of every decision.

We are grateful to the families, our team, students, community members and industry partners who have supported GP Tech and who continue to help us build something meaningful for Grande Prairie.

Our vision remains the same: To create a school where students can see the connection between what they learn, what they can do and where their future can take them.
