Learning doesn’t have to feel like worksheets at a table. ✨
Some of the best learning happens through play, movement, laughter, and connection. This week we worked on:
🔤 identifying uppercase and lowercase letters
🔺 recognizing shapes
🧮 practicing counting skills
💛 building confidence every step of the way
😂 giggles, high fives, and some very proud moments
Watching kids light up when something finally clicks is one of my favourite parts of tutoring. When children feel safe, supported, and engaged, learning becomes something they want to do — and that changes everything.
Every session is built around meeting kids where they’re at while making learning interactive, encouraging, and fun. Because confidence grows fastest when kids are enjoying the process. 🌱
Watching confidence grow in real time — especially during those little “I did it!” moments — is one of my favourite parts of what I do.

Tutoring has never been just about grades for me. 💛
For me, the most important part of the learning process is the connection and relationship we build along the way. When students feel comfortable, supported, and understood, that’s when real learning happens. I love creating a space where kids can ask questions freely, make mistakes without fear, and grow in confidence at their own pace.
Some of the best moments are watching a student go from “I can’t do this” to feeling proud of themselves and excited to learn. The laughs, conversations, games, little victories, and trust we build together are what make this so meaningful to me. ✨
I want every session to feel encouraging, safe, engaging, and personalized to each child and how they learn best — because every student deserves to feel capable and valued. 📚
With some big life changes coming up, I’ve been reflecting even more on how grateful I am for every family, student, and connection that has been part of this journey so far. 🤍
Parents… any guesses what the big changes might be? 👀✨

Learning doesn’t have to feel like a chore 👏
One of my sessions this past week was all about fractions—but not in the “worksheet and stress” kind of way. We used colors, hands-on activities, and a bit of creativity to break things down in a way that actually makes sense, and maybe some math games in the mix as well
When students are engaged, they don’t just memorize—they understand.
When they’re having fun, they’re more willing to try.
And that’s where real learning happens.
Every session is designed to meet students where they’re at, while building confidence and skills in a way that sticks.
Because yes—sessions can be both fun and educational 💡

Assessments aren’t about labels—they’re about clarity.
As a tutor, I don’t assess to “test” students. I assess to understand them.
Where are the gaps?
What skills are solid?
Where is confidence low (even if ability is there)?
What pace actually works for this student?
Without that information, tutoring turns into guessing. And guessing wastes time, money, and momentum.
A good assessment lets me:
• Target exactly what needs work
• Avoid reteaching what a student already knows
• Build a plan that actually fits the learner
• Track real progress over time
This is why I start my onboarding process with an in depth onboarding form to get the best idea of what we want to accomplish and any background. From there I can determine if an assessment via conversation is the best course of action or if a more in depth approach is necessary.
For my kiddos doing reading, I have found the resources at Pioneer Valley Books to be amazing. The only downside for me is that it is digital, but gives me in depth insight into each student and tells me exactly where they are at.
For math I use a variety of resources; Mammoth Math, Jump Math and Mathsmart are a few go tos, but my math assessments I try to keep as fun as possible with math games and hands on learning. Never will you see me solely give a test or worksheet for a tutoring assessment.
The goal is to meet them where they’re at—and move them forward with purpose.

Got below 20% on the Grade 9 Math PAT.
When we started they were at 44% in Math 15. By the end of the semester, they finished with an 80%. Now halfway through semester 2, they are tackling Math 10C with more confidence than ever.
That’s the difference consistency makes.
1–2 sessions a week. Showing up through the strike. No shortcuts, no hand-holding—just real work, real accountability, and learning the material properly.
This is what happens when a student buys in.
Not just better grades—better habits, confidence, and independence. That’s what actually changes outcomes.
And messages like this from parents? That’s what matters most.
We’re not done yet 📈
