Let your ideas leap off the page! The Fiddlehead: Atlantic Canada's International Literary Journal's 2026 Fiction Contest is currently open for submissions! The best story will receive the $2000 prize and be published in Issue 310 of The Fiddlehead. This year's contest is being judged by Giller Prize longlisted author Kirti Bhadresa! You can find all our guidelines for submission here. Deadline to submit: September 1. 🗓✅

Don't miss the Still Here: Emancipation Celebration taking place July 31 - Aug 3. The Still Here Festival is a four-day long celebration honouring four centuries of Black heritage, resilience, and community in New Brunswick.

The festival will feature a film screening, a theatrical performance at The Playhouse, picnics, live music at Officers' Square, a keynote address on Canadian Black Art History, live poetry, and more!

The deadline to register for the Black Loyalist Academic and Community Knowledge (BLACK) conference is July 20!

The conference will be held at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton from July 31 to August 3, 2026. This year’s conference is part of the Still Here Emancipation celebration in Fredericton that celebrates four centuries of Black heritage, resilience, and community in New Brunswick. Come celebrate with us and be part of this important conversation!

NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival is celebrating its 25th year of showcasing New Brunswick made plays! Join them from July 22 - Aug 1 for theatre of all kinds, directed, written, and acted out by talented creators right here in New Brunswick.

This year's festival features 15 (!) new NB plays! The festival has several different styles of shows. Tickets to the Mainstage and Acting Out performances range from $12 - $18 with tickets available at the door. All other shows/events are admission by donation at the door making it an affordable away to enjoy some live entertainment! 🌟🎭
