Friendship Medal Spotlight

Madden MacDonell
U9 Goalie | North Nova Comets | Cape Breton, NS

Awarded By: Red Hornets

Madden earned the Friendship Medal after being recognized by the opposing team for playing her hardest, making some great saves, and bringing a positive attitude to the game.

Now finishing her fourth year of hockey, Madden first took a turn in goal in 2024 and immediately fell in love with being between the pipes.

Her teammates know her for much more than the saves she makes. Madden works hard, stays positive, and is always there to support the players around her. She might be the loudest one leading the pregame chant and the first one offering encouragement when a teammate needs it.

Playing on different teams throughout Nova Scotia has given Madden plenty of hockey experiences, but her favourite part continues to be the friendships she makes along the way.

That is exactly what the Friendship Medal is all about.

Congratulations, Madden! Keep making saves, supporting your teammates, and making new friends wherever hockey takes you.

Block 2 of our U7/U9 Summer Series is underway!

What a great night on the ice. Coaches from Fredericton, Saint John and Woodstock came together to give our youngest skaters a fun practice filled with skating, puck touches, learning and lots of smiles.

A huge thank you to Bria Harding, Leanne McCarthy, Matt Tomah, Matt Arsenault, Chris Thompson and Rebecca Smith for giving their time and helping make nights like this possible.

And a big thank you to Lukas MacNeil for bringing everyone together and continuing to build connections throughout the girls hockey community.

When you see people from different communities coming together for the youngest girls in the game, it is pretty special.

With this group helping lead the way, our youngest skaters are in great hands.

This is what the Rink Rebels family is all about. Growing the game, building connections and making sure these girls love coming to the rink.

Jonathan is a huge part of the Rink Rebels family, and this is pretty special to see.

Proud to see him representing New Brunswick at the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg and helping shine a light on Special Olympics and the incredible athletes at the heart of it.

Way to represent, Jonathan. We’re proud to have you as part of our Rink Rebels family.

Huge congratulations to Kat Pelowich on scoring her first goal with HV71 in their 4–3 overtime win over Linköping to open the season!

We’re incredibly proud to have Kat as part of the Rink Rebels family, and we can’t wait to follow her journey in Sweden this season.
