Hello, my name is Frank Peach and I am looking for your support on October 15, 2022 as I’m running for School Board Trustee, School District 81. I was born and raised here in Fort Nelson and I’ve had the pleasure of receiving all my Elementary, Secondary and some Post Secondary Education here.
I know what an excellent education system we have. For the past seventeen years I’ve served the residents and visitors of the Northern Rockies as a Career Firefighter. During my career I’ve received training and education in multiple disciplines such as: Emergency Medical Care, Fire Service Instructor, Fire Officer and Fire Inspector just to name a few. One of the joys of my career has been providing Fire Prevention Education to the youth of Fort Nelson. My wife and I have three daughters. Two of them are now graduated and our youngest just started grade 3. Over the course of the past seventeen years, I’ve had the pleasure of being involved with multiple charities including Muscular Dystrophy Canada , The Cancer Society and the BCPFFA Burn Fund. I’ve Formerly held the position of Secretary Treasurer and Vice President and now serve as Union President for the past 3 years for the IAFF Local 2782.
I believe that education is the most important asset for our future. It should be effective and valued. As trustees we will work with the province and city council to continue to bring world class education to the students of SD81 no matter their age or ability. We will look at funding increases by seeking out partnerships to expand special needs education and assistance, after school programs, financial literacy and entrepreneurship training. The board should also be committed to providing a bully free environment for students and staff alike. I believe in more choices for parents, innovation from teachers and opportunities for students. Everyone learns differently and should be equally supported and encouraged to succeed.
I believe that any board no matter its purpose or field should be a well rounded and diverse group of individuals. A School Board is no different then any other board. Each individual brings a suitcase of new ideas and perspective on Education. I’m not a qualified Educator for school based education, which means I can bring my ideas and other perspectives to the SD81 School board and make it that much better.
My top priorities are to:
Build on trades training
Development of other forms of career training such as medical fields , Emergency services, technology industry,
School safety,
More funding for special needs,
After school programs,
and Hiring and retaining teachers.
Thank you
