Big news for Alberta's early childhood educators!
We are pleased to share that the Government of Alberta has expressed its support for declaring AECEA's Early Childhood Educator Day on the third Friday of May each year, beginning in 2027, as a provincially recognized day.
This declaration will provide an opportunity to formally recognize the dedication, professionalism, and important contributions of early childhood educators across Alberta. Ministry staff will now begin the work required to support the declaration.
We look forward to sharing more information as it becomes available and celebrating the first provincially recognized Early Childhood Educator Day on May 21, 2027.
Thank you to the educators, partners, and supporters whose ongoing commitment continues to elevate and strengthen the early learning and child care profession across Alberta.

⛵️ Engaging in Scientific Inquiry with Origami Boats⛵️
We played with origami boats (paper boats) decorated with umbrella drink sticks in a clear plastic bin filled with blue-coloured water. This experience encouraged sensory exploration, fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and language skills as children learned about floating and sinking and named the colors of the boats. It also supported their attention span and imagination as they spent time exploring the activity.

🫛🫛Another Pea Harvest!
Our garden continues to produce peas, and the children took part in harvesting them again. The experience allowed them to participate in hands-on-learning, observe growth in the natural environment, and strengthen their connection to care for living things.
