Every child in Alberta deserves access to publicly funded education regardless of immigration, and they should never be denied the safety, stability, opportunity and sense of belonging that school can provide because of it.

When a child is excluded from school, the effects reach beyond that child and their family. Communities lose connection, trust and the potential every student brings.

Every child who walks through a public-school door in Alberta deserves to be there. This should not be a political question. It should be a commitment Albertans can be proud to uphold.

Money following the student makes sense until you think about it for more than 3 seconds.

"I don't have kids, so can I get a 'no child' rebate?"
"My kids have finished school, can I get a 'school completion' rebate?"

Public education is not a personal subscription service. We fund it because an educated population benefits everyone.

The UCP has quietly brought back **Expected Parental Contributions** for student loans—the first time since 2012—while **doubling the mandatory student contribution from $1,500 to $3,000**.

Many middle-class families will receive less financial aid, with no grandfathering for students already partway through their degrees. Thanks again, Danielle!

When the province threatens to lock children out of school over immigration paperwork, what exactly are parents supposed to do—quit their jobs and stay home?

This is not responsible policy. It punishes children, destabilizes working families, and creates even more pressure on schools and communities.

Kids belong in classrooms, not trapped in political games.
