Session 1. 언어학에서 보는 이중언어 습득
- 영어환경 속 한국어 사용, 부모의 언어 선택과 자녀 언어 발달에 대한 언어학적 관점

As we work toward having Korean adopted as a core subject in Alberta, here’s what lies ahead:

We will need schools willing to pilot Korean language programs.

Once schools are ready to offer Korean classes, we will also need qualified Korean-Canadian teachers with Alberta teaching certification to teach these classes.

If you are interested in becoming a Korean culture and language teacher in Edmonton Public Schools, you can apply now! Please send your resume to: [email protected]

We are also looking for volunteers!

Today, we had an online meeting with the Korean Language Foundation(KLF) to discuss the advancement of the Korean language program in Alberta. Thanks to everyone’s support, the meeting was a great success. We shared a wealth of information and exchanged ideas about the direction we should take moving forward. Thankfully, the KLF has committed to holding 3-4 meetings with us each year to provide their assistance.

The most crucial step in completing this Korean language project is to create a credit program. Our primary goal is to work with Alberta’s provincial education authorities to ensure that Korean language courses are recognized for credits.

At the same time, we are officially launching the “Meet the Principal Campaign.” The active participation and support of parent groups are now more critical than ever. Based on the information gathered through the online petition, we will reach out to parents of high school students who indicated their willingness to attend meetings with their school principals. We will coordinate dates and times and begin scheduling these important parent-principal meetings.

Today marked a meaningful day for the Korean Parent Committee as we took another step forward. Special thanks to Chairperson Kyung-Hwa Kim and Secretary General Mi-Kyung Cho of the American Korean Language Foundation, Professor Kyung-Sook Kim of the University of Alberta’s Department of East Asian Studies, Assistant Principal Celia Kim of Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School, and Teacher Inae Kim. Thank you all for your support and dedication!

한국어를 가르쳐줄 학교가 생긴다면 한국어를 가르쳐주실수 있는 알버타 교사 자격이 있는 한인 선생님이 필요합니다.

알버타 한국어 정규 프로그램 추진을 하기위해 미주한국어재단과 온라인 미팅이 오늘 있었습니다. 온라인 미팅은 덕분에 아주 잘 마쳤습니다. 많은 정보들을 공유했고, 앞으로 나아가는 방향에 대한 고민도 함께 나누었습니다. 감사하게도 미주 한국어재단은 저희와 일년에 3-4회 미팅을 해서 도움을 주시기로 하셨습니다.

한국어 프로젝트를 완성시키기 위하여 크레딧 프로그램을 만드는것이 가장 중요합니다. 알버타 주정부 책임자에게 한국어 코스를 크레딧화 시키는것이 우리의 목표 입니다.

그 동시에 ”교장선생님 찾아가기 운동 시작합니다“ 지금부터 학부모회의 액션과 서포트가 절실하게 필요합니다. 우선 온라인 패티션의 정보를 토대로 고등학교 학부모중에 교장선생님과 미팅 참석이 가능하다고 표기해주신 분들께 따로 컨택드리겠습니다. 날짜와 시간을 조율하여 미팅날짜를 잡고 학부모 미팅을 시작해나가도록 하겠습니다.
