Slither 'n' Such

This is Frog. He is a toad.
He is smooth-sided like a frog, but bumpy as toads should be.
He climbs…which most toads don’t do?…or do they?
He likes moisture as many frogs do, but is not aquatic.
So no, he’s not a frog.
Yes, he’s acting like one.

These two photos look very different — but they’re showing the same thing: transformation in progress.
The hornworms? They’ve pupated and are quietly rebuilding themselves into moths (we moved them to soil right after this picture was taken).
The silkworms? They’ve spun cocoons and are mid-metamorphosis — no movement, no drama, just biology doing its work.
Here’s the part we love teaching kids (and adults):
🦋 Not all growth looks busy
🦋 Not all stillness means something is wrong
🦋 And not all change is visible while it’s happening
In nature, some of the biggest changes happen underground, wrapped in silk, or hidden in plain sight.
This is why we’re obsessed with life cycles, insects, and reptiles — they remind us that pause is not failure. It’s often the most important stage.

We are hanging with the VIPs of the household (Very Important Pods), and taking pictures for the website! Who here has heard of the Bumble Bees?!? Their colours are SO cool and I couldn’t even capture it very well - more pics to come!!

We have fancy schmancy isopod BABIES!!! And, wow we are a little late to the game here but Happy 2026 toooooo!!! This year is an adventure already and I am terrible at social media posts 🫣 but we are still here and still moving forward one step at a time! 🤷🏽‍♀️
