We are looking forward to taking part in the first ever national Suzuki Music/Musique Canada conference this weekend, here in Edmonton!!

Students from Twinkles up to advanced levels will be taking part in play-ins, group classes, intermediate and senior orchestra, enrichment classes (recording studio, luthier, and improvisation), and a final concert Sunday afternoon at City Hall!

There are also a number of teacher and family/ caregiver sessions, including neurodiversity presentations, nurturing creativity, mentorship, biomechanics & posture, and more!

I am personally looking forward to being there as viola parent to my 2 kiddos! What a unique opportunity to meet, learn, and play with other students and teachers from across the country! 🍁

Dropped off a donation to the Kids with Cancer Society from the studio busking group - young violists and violinists performing for a great cause! Bravo!!

Tomorrow morning, Sunday June 22nd, between 10:00-12-30, a group of our students will be busking again at the Callingwood Farmer's Market ! They've been working hard preparing classical, folk, pop, and rock selections!

Come cheer them on, and take a walk around the market to see all the wonderful local vendors too!🍎🥖🥬

Half of their earnings will be donated to the charity of their choice, the Kids with Cancer Society !❤️

Andrew Wan is the concertmaster of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, and grew up here in Edmonton, studying with Mrs. Yoko Wong (who I studied with as well). Cellist David Eggert is also phenomenal! Not to mention, they are playing a piece by Edmonton-born Alissa Cheung!

I'm excited to be playing in this concert tonight - soloist Erin James sounds fantastic, and this concerto is a stunning piece by Joseph Bologne Chevalier Saint-George, who was hugely famous in his time as an "exceptional violinist, composer, improviser and conductor as well as equally famous as a champion fencer, dancer, skater, rider and hunter". It's exciting and important to bring his music back to light, after being excluded from the classical music canon for so long.

The performance is from about 6-6:30, followed by a really interesting presentation from about 6:30-7:00 about Joseph Bologne Chevalier Saint-George and his music.

It's free, and there is a livestream Youtube link listed on the website for those who want to tune in from home!
