This is a brand new project that is very near to my heart - playing in Marigold Ensemble with dear friends and colleagues!
❤️
We have some amazing music to share with you all, save the date for Sunday Nov. 1, 7 pm for our inaugural concert! More info to come!

Marigold Ensemble is a dynamic, conductorless string ensemble bringing together Edmonton-based classical musicians to explore both beloved masterpieces and rarely heard works.
Inspired by Edmonton’s official flower, the marigold, our ensemble celebrates the city’s sunny spirit, diversity, and creative energy. Through innovative programming, we shine a light on overlooked composers, champion women in music, and offer audiences a fresh perspective on the string repertoire while honoring the traditions of classical music.
Marigold Ensemble is proudly sponsored by the Edmonton Arts Council, whose generous support helps bring this vibrant musical project to life and contributes to Edmonton’s thriving cultural community.

📢Calling all Edmonton violin, viola, & fiddle players!
You are invited to this upcoming workshop:

🎻Métis Fiddle Workshop with Brianna Lizotte
Sunday March 8, 1:00-2:00 pm
Room 440 @ The Orange Hub 10045 156 St
$10 per participant
Sign up: https://forms.gle/AwzZsZkg6pRnYdNA7
or www.leannemaitland.com
Co-presented by Leanne’s Studio & Jasper Place Arts Festival Society

🎶 In this workshop with JUNO- nominated fiddle player Brianna Lizotte, participants will learn 1 to 2 traditional Métis tunes during the 1 hour session. Along with the melody, participants of any age and skill level will find a way to work with one another to create one sound. Learning the history behind Métis music, students will leave with a better understanding of the Métis style along with some new skills that can be put to use in other genres of playing.

📎For fiddle, violin, & viola players of all ages and levels. $10 per participant. Sign up in advance to reserve your spot. E-transfer, or cash only at the door.

❤️Just a personal note: some of my students and I had an opportunity to attend a workshop that Brianna taught last spring. She is a fantastic player, is very skilled at teaching a multi-level group, and she has an encouraging and enthusiastic approach to teaching the group by rote. What an amazing opportunity to learn from an expert in the Métis music & culture of right here in Treaty 6 territory - something I wish I would have had the opportunity to do as a string player growing up here!

🌟Please share, and I hope to see you there!
