Hey Family & Friends—be prepared for an epic evening! After a week of intense rehearsals, non-stop dedication, and incredible teamwork, the stage is officially set for the grand finale.

Come and listen live to see a stellar showcase of what our 12 incredible bands have pulled together this past week. These musicians have poured their hearts into mastering their sets, fine-tuning the details, and locking in their performance, and they are ready to blow you away!

🎸 DAY 7: The Big Rehearsal Marathon & Show Day Eve! 🎸

Today was all about the final polish. Every single band hit the stage to run through their full sets, and our instructors were working hard right alongside them to fine-tune the performance details. We spent the day dialing in the flow, pacing, and transitions—and let me tell you, it is sounding tight!

It was also a massive "pack out" day for us. We’ve got the gear loaded and the trailers ready to roll so we can get the school cleared out and head straight to the show this afternoon! 🚚

Once the heavy lifting was done, the kids had some well-earned flex time to hang out, play board games, and work on a cool project Connor had on the go.

The Highlight: Shannon arrived with a massive box full of this year’s RCA T-shirts, and the energy in the room went through the roof! They look absolutely amazing—Shannon, you outdid yourself with the design again! Seeing how excited the kids were to get their gear was the perfect way to wrap up our time at the school.

The stage is set. The gear is packed. The kids are ready.

🎸 INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: BRETT WATT ⚡

Welcome back to our daily Rock Camp spotlight! Tonight, we are throwing it back to Day One and shining the light on a true camp legend who has been with us since the very first downbeat in 2009: Brett Watt! 🤘🥁

Brett is a master of the heavy groove, a foundational piece of the Rock Camp family, and the ultimate rhythm section mentor. He has been driving the beat and shaping our campers into powerhouse players since our inception!

⚡ The Bio:
The Roots: Brett started studying drums and metal music at the age of 15. Mostly self-taught, he locked down his serious drum chops with a variety of high school musicians before landing in a local thrash-death metal band, writing, recording, and performing originals in the Edmonton metal scene of the late '90s and early 2000s.

The Partnership: While working in Evansburg in the mid-2000s, Brett met Rock Camp co-founder Matt Kolotyluk. The two quickly started playing in a gigging cover band and have been playing together non-stop ever since in a variety of musical acts!

The Legacy: These days, you can catch him holding down the rhythm as a member of The Mad Jacks. Brett was invited to instruct at the very first Rock Camp back in 2009 in Drayton Valley and has been a vital part of almost every single camp since.

🎸 DAY 6: Showcase Sneak Peek & Evening Vibes! 🎸

The energy at camp tonight was absolutely electric! Right after dinner, the switch flipped and all 12 of our camp bands took turns taking over the stage.

Each band performed their 2 showcase songs tonight, and they absolutely nailed it! The growth, confidence, and pure talent on display in just one week is completely mind-blowing. They are officially locked, loaded, and ready for the spotlight.

Behind the Scenes Tonight:

Dressed to Impress: The kids got completely decked out in their official showcase gear for a massive group shot! (You’ll have to wait just a little longer to see the final photos, but trust us—they look like absolute rock royalty! 👑)

Evening Wrap-Up: Connor kept the energy going after the music wrapped up, leading the kids through some fun, late-night band activities to wind down a massive day.

🎸 INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: JARED MADSEN ⚡

Welcome back to our daily Rock Camp spotlight! Tonight, we are throwing the horns up for a veteran of the Alberta rock scene who first joined our camp family back in 2014: Jared Madsen! 🤘🔥

Jared is easily one of the most humble guys you’ll ever meet, but he is a literal multi-instrumental powerhouse. While we always think of his killer bass chops, his musical arsenal goes way deeper. In tonight's media, you get a front-row seat to his incredible versatility—from shredding on keys and guitar to unleashing some absolutely insane scream singing! 🎤🎹

⚡ The Bio:
The Roots: Jared has been tearing it up for nearly 30 years, getting his start back in junior high with the local metal band Tread Through Darkness, followed by a 10+ year run exploring all kinds of genres with The Mad Jacks.

The Heavy Edge: While he has a passion for all styles of music, his heart definitely leans toward anything fast, loud, and heavy—bringing that signature intensity into every coaching session.

The Current Project: These days, you can catch him unleashing his incredible talent on guitar for The Keeler Gap, an original progressive rock trio based right out of Hinton, Alberta.

📸 DAY 5 RECAP: BAND SHOTS & AN EPIC CONCERT NIGHT! 🎸

Day 5 was all about the rockstar experience, both on and off the stage! ⚡️

The bands kept up the grind with their regular four intensive rehearsal slots during the day, but we also kicked off an awesome new tradition. Cynthia, our on-campus photographer, took four of the bands out for their official Band Shot! She’ll be working with four different groups each day to get some incredibly cool, professional band photos. The kids absolutely loved striking their best rockstar poses! 🤠📸

After an intense day of practicing and posing, the evening was packed with incredible live music. The campers got to experience a phenomenal All Originals Performance featuring a killer lineup of bands including Proper Young Men, Tysen, Decay of the Deceased, No Alibi, Malefic, and Iotic! 🎤🔥

To top it all off, we had a very special mini-concert from Daybreak—a band that actually originated right here at Rock Camp Alberta! It is so cool to see former campers coming back year after year, stepping into the spotlight for a mini-show, and sitting down with the current students for an inspiring Q&A session. 🥹🙌

After a high-energy night of live music, the kids wound down with some cozy board games before heading off to bed. 🎲♟️
