The Champions Academy Daycare & OSC Exclusive Summer fun

The Very Hungry Caterpillar. During circle time, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar story together. The children listened attentively and showed great excitement while following the caterpillar’s journey from a tiny egg to a beautiful butterfly.The children were especially interested in learning about the caterpillar’s life cycle. They asked questions such as, “How does the caterpillar become a butterfly?”, “What does it eat?”, and “Where does it live?”
To extend their curiosity, the children created their own caterpillars using a variety of art materials and explored a Caterpillar Investigation Table with natural items, butterflies, leaves, pinecones, and life cycle materials. They also used measurement tools to compare the lengths of different caterpillars, counted segments, and sorted natural objects, encouraging mathematical thinking and scientific exploration.

When play gets into the life at The Champions Academy Daycare & OSC

During circle time, we talked about summer fun and invited each child to share their favorite summer activities. The children raised their hands and shared their ideas, such as going camping, swimming, playing at the park, having picnics, eating ice cream, making popcorn , making cake , etc They listened respectfully to one another and were excited to learn about their friends’ experiences.To extend the children’s interests, the teachers created a Summer Farmers’ Market and Bake sale area based on the children’s ideas. The children worked together to make muffins, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods with helps of teacher. They enjoyed taking turns being bakers, cashiers, customers, and shopkeepers. This open-ended activity encouraged imagination, creativity, communication, cooperation, and problem-solving. The children also practiced counting, exchanging play money, making choices, and using polite language while interacting with their peers.The children were happy, engaged, and excited throughout the activity. They collaborated with one another, shared materials, and demonstrated confidence in their roles. This meaningful learning experience supported their social, language, cognitive, and early math skills while allowing them to follow their own interests through play.
