Canada and the EU already cooperate under CETA on regulatory matters, international standards and professional qualifications. In 2026, both sides reaffirmed plans to deepen regulatory alignment, while Canadian and European standards organizations are examining hundreds of international standards adopted in both jurisdictions.
CETA also provides a framework through which Canadian and European regulators and professional bodies can develop agreements for the mutual recognition of certain regulated professional qualifications.
