As grade 7 students prepared to step into their final year at Sunrise, they took time to reflect on the teachers, mentors, peers and guides who have accompanied them on their journey. Through heartfelt words, stories, and expressions of gratitude, one message shone through clearly: relationships matter.
There wasn't a dry eye in the room as students and parents spoke about the teachers who have inspired them, challenged them, encouraged them, and truly seen them over the years. It was a beautiful reminder that while academics, arts, and outdoor education all play an important role in a Waldorf education, it is the quality of the human relationships that forms the foundation for everything else.
At Sunrise, the connections between students, teachers, and families are not simply a part of school life, they are the heart of it. They create the trust that allows children to grow with confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging.
These relationships are what our students remember. They are what families value most. And they are why we are here.
Thank you to our Grade 7 students for reminding us of the profound impact of walking alongside children as they grow.

Yesterday, families, teachers, and the Sunrise community gathered to celebrate the Grade 8 Class of 2026.
For many of these graduates, the journey began years ago in Parent & Child, taking their first steps through our doors with a parent by their side. Yesterday, they crossed another threshold and ready for what comes next.
We are grateful to have witnessed their growth, their courage, their friendships, and the unique gifts each has brought to our school.
Congratulations, Grade 8 Class of 2026. We can't wait to see where your path leads.

Today, our Grade 7 students stood at an important threshold.
As they prepare for their final year at Sunrise and begin looking toward the wider world beyond our school, we gathered as a community to honor who they have become, and who they are still becoming.
What makes this moment so special is that no child arrives here alone. Behind every confident adolescent ready for their next adventure stands a circle of teachers, parents, staff, and friends who have known them, believed in them, and carried them in their hearts for years.
Today was a reminder that at Sunrise, we do more than educate children. We surround them with a community that sees their gifts, nurtures their potential, and celebrates the light they have been, the light they are, and the light they are yet to bring into the world.
What a privilege it is to walk alongside them.

The music queues. Costumes are adjusted. A few excited glances are exchanged backstage. Then, with a deep breath, Grade 2 steps into the world of A Tragic Tail Tale.
For weeks, this year's class play has been quietly taking shape in the rhythm of school life. Lines practiced during the school day. Songs learned together. Movements rehearsed again and again. What begins as a collection of individual children gradually becomes something more - a cast, a story, a shared creation.
When the audience gathers, they see a performance. What they may not see is the journey that brought it to the stage.
They may not see the child who found the confidence to speak loudly enough to be heard. The friendships strengthened through collaboration. The patience, perseverance, and courage that emerge through the rehearsal process.
At Sunrise Waldorf, class plays are woven into the educational journey because they offer children the opportunity to grow in ways that reach far beyond the stage. Every child has a role to play. Every child contributes something unique. Every child belongs.
Congratulations to our Grade 2 students for their wonderful performance of A Tragic Tail Tale, and thank you to Mr. Brad for guiding this meaningful work. We are grateful to witness these moments of growth, creativity, and community unfold.

Step inside the Sunrise Waldorf preschool classroom and you’ll find a space that feels more like a home than a school. Warm natural materials, child-sized furnishings, and simple, beautiful toys create an environment where children can settle into play, feel secure, and let their imaginations flourish.
Rather than toys that entertain for the child, our open-ended and universal play materials invite creativity, problem-solving, and meaningful social interaction while supporting healthy emotional regulation and a sense of calm.
Curious to experience it for yourself? Join us for our final Preschool Open House on Saturday, June 6, from 10:00–11:30 AM. A few preschool spaces are still available for September, and we would love to welcome your family.

“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit...”
Recently, our Grade 6 class brought The Hobbit to life in a memorable performance filled with courage, humour, adventure... and a lot of lines to learn!
One of the unique gifts of Waldorf education is the class play tradition: from Grade 1 through to graduation, students take the stage year after year, growing in confidence and capability along the way. Through these performances, students develop public speaking skills, collaboration, empathy, and a deeper sense of self and other as they step into different characters and perspectives.
Learning lines, supporting classmates, overcoming nerves, and performing for an audience takes dedication and builds confidence that reaches far beyond the stage.
Bravo to our Grade 6 students for their incredible journey to Middle-earth!
