WEEK FOUR.

Three weeks down and we’re already at our last session of September.

And for Session #4, we’re bringing in:

FREEZE BALL.

Two teams. Two baskets. One basketball.

But there’s a catch.

When the ball is in your hands, you can’t move.

Catch it = FREEZE.
Everyone else = MOVE.

You’ll have to protect the ball, find the open teammate, make the pass and work your way toward the basket.

This week’s Core Athletic Value:

DECISION-MAKING.

Because sports aren’t just about how fast you can run, how high you can jump or how hard you can throw.

It’s recognizing what’s happening around you and deciding what to do next.

Pass or shoot?
Move or stay?
Where’s the open space?

Great athletes don’t just move fast. They learn to think fast, too.

REFUND UPDATE

We’ve received quite a few messages over the last few days regarding refunds for our cancelled Fall On-Ice Camp, so I wanted to provide everyone with a quick update.

All refunds were submitted shortly after we received confirmation that the camp had to be cancelled.

The refunds are being processed through Stripe, which is the payment platform that was used to collect all camp registrations. Because of the number and total amount of refunds being processed, Stripe first needs to transfer the necessary funds from our bank account before they can return them to each original method of payment.

That transfer is currently being processed.

Once the funds have cleared with Stripe, the refunds will be released back to the original cards. From there, it can typically take approximately 5-10 business days for the refund to appear, depending on your bank or credit card provider.

We completely understand that everyone is waiting for their refund and appreciate your patience. All refunds have been submitted and are on their way but unfortunately, the processing time is simply taking a little longer than we originally anticipated.

We’ll continue to keep everyone updated as the process moves along.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding!

WEEK THREE.

After two great weeks in the gym, we’re back at it tomorrow.

And for Session #3, we’re bringing in:

DOCTOR DODGEBALL.

Lots of running. Lots of throwing. Lots of dodging, protecting teammates and trying to figure out who the other team’s Doctor is.

This week’s Core Athletic Value:

LEADERSHIP.

Because being a leader isn’t just about being the best player.

It’s helping your teammates. Encouraging others. Stepping up when your team needs you. And leading by example.

WEEK TWO.

After a great first night in the gym, we’re back at it Tuesday.

And for Session #2, we’re bringing in:

CASTLE WARS.

Lots of running. Lots of throwing. Lots of defending, rescuing teammates and trying to take down the other team’s castle.

This week’s Core Athletic Value:

COMMUNICATION.

Because great teams talk.

They warn each other. They call for help. They make a plan. And they work together.

Unfortunately, our Fall On-Ice Development Camp has been cancelled.

Honestly, this is a really difficult post for me to write.

On May 22, I received confirmation from the Village of Belledune’s Recreation & Wellness Coordinator that our ice times were booked for September 26-27, October 3-4 and October 10-11.

From that point forward, I planned everything around those dates.

Today, September 10, I finally received official confirmation from the Village’s Chief Administrative Officer that the decision to delay the arena opening is final and that our camp dates cannot be accommodated.

I understand that the Village is facing some difficult financial decisions, but the timing of this one is especially hard to accept.

Just this week, I received confirmation that our new jerseys, socks, merchandise and equipment were being shipped. Items I invested in because I wanted to make this camp even better than last year.

Now, the camp they were intended for will not happen.

We had 73 young athletes registered thus far, with 16 days still remaining before our first session.

That is probably what hurts the most.

Seventy-three kids and their families supported this camp and trusted what I was trying to build. I was genuinely so excited to get everyone on the ice.

I won’t lie, I’m devastated.

Of course, everyone will receive a full refund, and I’ll be reaching out shortly with more information about that process (thank you all for your patience in the mean time).

To everyone who registered, shared our posts, told friends about the camp or supported Two Twelve Degrees in any way, thank you. It truly means a lot.

I’m deeply sorry that we won’t get to make this one happen.

I’m not sure when the next opportunity will be, but whenever it comes, we’ll be ready.

AND THE FLAG WAS CAPTURED!

What a fun and exciting first night back in the gym for our athletes!

After our dynamic warm-up, we got right into the rules of our main activity and the kids adapted quickly. Teams were formed, strategies were created, and cheers were yelled out really loud.

At the end of the session, one team was excited to have won while the other was disappointed to have lost. But that’s part of it too… being a good sport, having fun and working hard no matter the result.

Most of the kids also did a great job incorporating our first theme of the year: BEING A GOOD TEAMMATE.

Can’t wait for next week already!

LESS THAN ONE WEEK TO GO.

Next Tuesday, we’re officially back in the gym.

And for Session #1, we’re starting with a classic:

CAPTURE THE FLAG.

Lots of running. Lots of chasing. Plenty of strategy and competition.

This week’s Core Athletic Value:

BEING A GOOD TEAMMATE.

Because sometimes helping your team win means being the one who grabs the flag.

And sometimes it means helping somebody else get there.

WHAT TO EXPECT: POWER SKATING

We’re starting our Fall Camp with the foundation of everything else we do on the ice: skating.

During our first session, we’ll spend time working on things like balance, edges, stride, acceleration, stops, turns and changing direction.

But don’t expect an hour of kids skating around cones.

We’ll mix those skills into races, challenges, competition and small-area activities, with and without the puck, to keep everyone moving and give players a chance to use what they’re working on in different situations.

The goal is pretty simple.

Help every player become a little more comfortable, powerful and efficient on their skates.

Session #1: Power Skating.

Then we build from there.
