The inspiration and ideas shared will help guide the creation of a fabric quilt. We encourage everyone to attend and provide their input. As a reminder, the Veterans mural was created by artist Wally Dion, and this is a great opportunity to help shape another meaningful piece of community pride!

Today, we honoured 11 graduates in an intimate ceremony that celebrated the past, present, and future. There was a strong focus on wâgôhtowin, the importance of kinship and supporting one another.

The students paid tribute to their Grade 5 teacher, Anna Carriere, presenting her with a star blanket along with a heartfelt script that expressed their appreciation for her love of teaching. Mary shared a beautiful song of naskomitan (thankyou), adding to the emotion of the event.

We then came together to celebrate with a Cumberland feast, where families could dine in and take as much food home. Wâgotiwin was evident throughout the gathering, with families travelling from across Canada, the United States, and Australia to be part of this special day.

This graduation was deeply emotional, grounded in what Cumberland stands for, respect for the Grandfather Teachings and the importance of hope in a higher power, whether through faith(Jesus) or the Creator. Ultimately, it is about embracing mino-pimatisiwin, living a good life.
