Here is the agenda for our upcoming Astronomy Week with Wilfred Buck! We’re excited to offer this special learning experience for our youth.

🌌✨ NORTH WHISKEY JACK ASTRONOMY WEEK ✨🌌

The stars are calling! ⭐️

Maskosis Support Services is excited to announce North Whiskey Jack Astronomy Week, an unforgettable experience for youth 17 years and under.

Youth will have the opportunity to spend one overnight camping experience with their assigned group while learning from renowned Indigenous astronomer Wilfred Buck. Wilfred Buck is a science facilitator at the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre and an Indigenous star lore expert. A member of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Buck is known as "the star guy" due to his knowledge of First Nations astronomy. He has researched and consulted with elders to learn more about the astronomical knowledge of Cree, Ojibway, and Lakota peoples.

Participants will explore the night sky through both Indigenous knowledge and modern astronomy in a fun, hands-on environment.

Highlights:

🔭 Telescope workshops
🔥 Campfire gatherings
🌌 Interactive learning with special guest Wilfred Buck
🏕️ One overnight camping experience
