They left it all out there.
Kootenay Zone 1 Box Lacrosse team is bringing home a Silver medal 🥈after being defeated by Vancouver Island.
What. A. Tournament. 🥍
These boys repeatedly faced all-star teams from population-dense zones with hundreds of players and multiple clubs. In the Kootenays, we have 28 U17 players in our zone from just two clubs. We took 19 to the Games, and made history. 🥹
For the first time, we won all preliminary games.
For the first time, we battled for gold.
And for the first time, we took home a medal in box lacrosse at the BC Games👏👏
We may be small in population, but we are mighty in lacrosse. This silver medal is big, and make no mistake: This is not an underdog story— it’s a BIG DAWG story.
For years, these players have all chosen to sacrifice, commit, and live for this game. Many have come up through the Cranbrook Minor Lacrosse program together 🐺. This was an incredible climax for a team of players who play relentlessly for each other and their coaches, who represent the best of what lacrosse is: grit, heart, passion, perseverance, dedication, respect, and commitment.
