A couple long time friends came to create in the studio today. They met in Grade 8 and have been in each other’s lives since. If only we could all be so lucky.
They really did add some sparkle to the studio. ✨✨

Work in progress. Always love to see a new pattern reveal itself. There’s so much movement. It’s an Undulating Twill on a straight Twill tie-up. Wool warp 22epi and Harrisville highland weft.
Pattern is from Strickler’s Book.

A weaving workshop concludes. What a fun two days. This long time knitter has discovered a wonderful way of using her yarn stash. Weaving!

March last year one of my favourite humans came for a rug tufting class. She created a mid century modern inspired mini that we both fell in love with. A perfect studio day: textiles and long time friends.

2023 is bringing back Rug Tufting and Weaving Classes.
To be fair they were never really gone just on a break.
The website is updated with dates for all the classes.

The 1 day weaving class gives you all the foundational skills of weaving on 4 shaft table looms. The class isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s like learning a new language and a musical instrument at the same time. It’s so fun to teach this fast paced class. Message me for information on classes.

Soul Weave is a 2 day class full of weaving skills, life chats, patterns and colour.
Every one is a delight. This student made 3 different samples, experimenting with weaving 3 different structures of cloth. It’s so nice to share the enthusiasm I carry for weaving with someone so motivated to learn.

Forest walks and time at the loom. I fill my days with the sacred. I adorn myself with handmade works of art. I’m watching myself age. Now is the time for nature, love and art. My hands hold the wisdom of weaving. Sometimes I watch them work without me even thinking about it. I wonder what textiles will manifest through me. I stay open, connected to creativity and discern how best to spend my time.

There have been many spiders in the house these days. I think they know I finally have a project on the loom and they’re coming to check it out.
I love how this pattern is turning out. I’m not going to change a thing.

This rug manifested into being with the greatest of ease. I love how it turned out. That’s a gorgeous rug!

Rise and Sley.
Good morning! A little sleepy at the loom. Sleying the reed at 25 e.p.i. (ends per inch).

Will see if that gives my textile the drape I want. The more threads in 1 inch, the more firm your fabric will be. I’m concerned this e.p.i won’t be drapey enough for tea towels.

That’s why the first couple throws of the shuttle is actually a sample. And why most weavers write this project info down.
