One of my favourite parts of teaching young ones is to find ways to communicate concepts in ways that little minds can manage.

We’ve all been in a school (or out and about) when a little one gets wrapped up in a bundle of hard emotions and gets out of sorts.

My ‘Throw It Out The Window’ strategy has helped more countless times in the classroom to bring a little friend back into a state of peace and calm.

I wanted to create a series of Decodable Texts that are easy to use, easy to read, and fun for students to feel their own progress in reading.
I copy mine into a very large poster format and laminate so I can hang them in class for a variety of purposes.
We do one story a week based on the target sound of the week.
First digitally as a whole group activity, next in our reading group, then students use it at independent station for a variety of activities that I have taught them to do:
Reading practice
Tapping, clapping, building
Play dough words
Blending
Segmenting
Decoding
Encoding
Writing journals
Creative writing
Sentence strips
Whiteboards
Magnet letters
Write the room activities
And so much more!

These great sentence strips are useful for centers, independent, work, pair, work, and anything you can think of. My students just love them! I set them out last week and they kept asking if they could be at that center!
