The biggest change Octavia made to her watercolor paintings happened in her sketchbook.
She would paint one thumbnail jump straight into a large watercolor painting and then wonder why the finished piece still felt like something was missing. She was used to the methodical, layered process of oil painting she learned in college, but watercolor was different.
As the scenes from her daily hikes became inspiration for her landscape paintings, she started to wonder what happened if she started treating her sketchbook as a place to explore different compositions, viewpoints, and colorways instead of treating it as one quick step before creating a real artwork.
If you have ever wondered if your painting is missing something this new blog is your sign to see how you can explore different ways to sketchbook practice and how it can help evolve your own watercolor painting.
👉 In this short read, you will discover
