Last semester, Dr. Cynthia Thomson shared her knowledge with ElderCollege members through Let’s Talk About Pain, helping us better understand the science behind chronic and acute pain. We’re so happy to see her continuing this important work and sharing her expertise with the wider community!

After living with chronic pain for more than a decade, UFV researcher Dr. Cynthia Thomson is helping reshape how clinicians across Canada understand and treat it.

Supported by Fraser Health, Cynthia is leading a national advisory panel planning project to develop a guide, supportive tools, and training for clinicians. It’s work that she hopes will help modernize the treatment of chronic pain.

Incredible achievement!

The University of the Fraser Valley has achieved a Gold rating through the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS), a globally recognized sustainability reporting framework administered by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

The achievement marks a significant milestone in UFV’s sustainability journey. Elevating the university from a Silver rating to Gold recognizes years of progress across teaching, research, campus operations, planning, governance, and campus community engagement.

Throwing it back to past collaborations with UFV! Over the years, our partnership has grown into so much more than classrooms, it has become a community of curiosity, intergenerational collaboration, and lifelong learning.

From inspiring lectures and hands-on workshops to research partnerships, intergenerational learning opportunities, and meaningful conversations with UFV faculty and students, we're grateful for everything this partnership has made possible.

We are proud to continue our valued partnership with University of the Fraser Valley - UFV as we prepare for another exciting year of lifelong learning.

Throwback Thursday!

Who remembers when ElderCollege registration meant paper forms, long lineups, and plenty of anticipation? These registration days were a true community event, and none of it would have been possible without our incredible volunteers.

From organizing paperwork and answering questions to greeting members with a smile, our volunteers have always been at the heart of Chilliwack ElderCollege. While registration looks very different today, the dedication and welcoming spirit of our volunteers remain exactly the same!
