The correct slope for a fixture drain is:

- One pipe diameter or less from the trap outlet to the vent fitting inlet.

This ensures:

- Proper drainage, the water doesn’t run faster than the solids
- Prevention of clogs
- No water siphoning out of the trap
- No sewer gas entering the living space

On the other hand, an incorrect slope greater than one pipe diameter can lead to:

- Water siphoning out of the trap
- Sewer gas entering the living space
- Drainage problems
- Clogs
