Summer touches!

One thing that never changes: if you want to score more goals, you need to be better around the front of the net.

This drill also emphasizes getting pucks off quickly, helping players capitalize on scoring chances before defenders or goalies can react.

Nothing fancy about this drill. Just reps and the ability to find loose pucks in tight areas. Learning to locate pucks, react quickly, and finish in traffic are valuable skills around the crease.

Simple drill. Valuable habits. Get your touches.

2-on-1 Quick Decision Drill with Wall Battle Finish

This is a great small-area 2-on-1 drill that forces players to make quick decisions under pressure while developing offensive creativity and defensive reads.

The drill starts in tight quarters, giving the puck carrier and supporting forward very little time and space to operate. Because of the confined area, players must process information quickly and execute plays at game speed.

The defenseman is given two options:

Commit to the puck carrier and pressure aggressively.

Stay layered and protect the passing lane, forcing the puck carrier to make a play through traffic.

This creates realistic game scenarios where both offensive players and defensemen must read and react rather than follow a predetermined pattern.

On the final puck, the drill transitions into a wall battle. Players must compete for possession along the boards before quickly changing their positioning and attacking a second net.

This drill is excellent for creating game-like reads, increasing compete level, and reinforcing habits that translate directly into offensive-zone play.

I’ll cherish the time we’ve spent together and will never forget this group of young men.
Thank you for showing up every day, giving your best, and buying into what we’ve built.

One year ago today I sat in a hospital waiting room for 8 hours while my mind raced.

Praying the surgery would go well.
Praying Tam would wake up with her full memory.
But most of all, praying she would still be able to speak, the biggest risk of the entire operation. Lastly waiting anxiously to see her so I knew she was okay.
This photo was taken shortly after she came out of surgery.

When I heard her say the words “I did it,” I felt more love, relief, and gratitude than I ever have in my life.

Our family’s life took a turn that day a road we never expected to walk.

But over the past year, the kids and I have simply followed Tam’s lead, watching her face every challenge with perseverance, courage, and strength.

We will continue to fight.
And we will always be grateful to our incredible family, friends, and community who supported us when we needed it most.

Tam is a fighter.
And she inspires us every single day.

The words “I did it” became the heartbeat of our family’s fight.
