Summer touches!

One thing that never changes: if you want to score more goals, you need to be better around the front of the net.

This drill also emphasizes getting pucks off quickly, helping players capitalize on scoring chances before defenders or goalies can react.

Nothing fancy about this drill. Just reps and the ability to find loose pucks in tight areas. Learning to locate pucks, react quickly, and finish in traffic are valuable skills around the crease.

2-on-1 Quick Decision Drill with Wall Battle Finish

This is a great small-area 2-on-1 drill that forces players to make quick decisions under pressure while developing offensive creativity and defensive reads.

The drill starts in tight quarters, giving the puck carrier and supporting forward very little time and space to operate. Because of the confined area, players must process information quickly and execute plays at game speed.

The defenseman is given two options:

Commit to the puck carrier and pressure aggressively.

Stay layered and protect the passing lane, forcing the puck carrier to make a play through traffic.

This creates realistic game scenarios where both offensive players and defensemen must read and react rather than follow a predetermined pattern.

On the final puck, the drill transitions into a wall battle. Players must compete for possession along the boards before quickly changing their positioning and attacking a second net.

This drill is excellent for creating game-like reads, increasing compete level, and reinforcing habits that translate directly into offensive-zone play.
