Thank you to Forest Innovation Investment (FII) for a full day of conversations, connections, and a closer look at where the forest and construction sectors are heading. 🌲
Last week, FII brought together voices from across the industry at BCIT, covering market diversification, First Nations leadership in forestry, and the future of wood-first construction in BC.
We had the opportunity to present BCIT's Wood First projects, including our educational programs for offsite construction, the Mass Timber Mock-up, and our hybrid Mass Timber, Steel and Concrete Tower.
Looking forward to staying connected with everyone in the room. 🤝

Proud to share a story of what happens when two institutions get on the same page, and get to work 🤝
BCIT's Mass Timber Connections and Constructability Hub travelled to Selkirk College's Technology Access Centre in Trail, BC, bringing hands-on mass timber training directly to learners in the West Kootenay and Boundary regions.
From rigging glulam posts to installing CLT panels, learners gained real job-site experience, supported by local industry partners including Kalesnikoff, Spearhead, and Hamill Creek Timber Homes.
This is the kind of collaboration we need more of. As mass timber continues to grow as one of BC's most in-demand construction sectors, making training accessible across regions is essential.
We'd love to see this model expand to more institutions across the province. Who's next? 🙌

Join us at BCIT for an industry conversation on prefab construction, lending & insurance — featuring leaders from Vancity and Aon.
As BC scales up its missing middle housing targets; multiplexes, SSMUH, and prefab delivery are increasingly converging on the same projects. But two friction points keep surfacing at every stage: financing and insurance.
We're bringing together senior voices from the lending and insurance sectors to unpack what financial and insurance products currently exist for prefab and multiplex projects, why the gaps persist, and how both industries are actively working to close them.
Featuring:
- Ryan Mckinley — Sr. Mortgage Development Manager, Retail Lead, Strategic Housing Initiatives, Vancity
- Alicia Clendenan — National Director, Sustainable & Alternative Construction, SVP Construction & Infrastructure, Aon Reed Stenhouse Inc.
Whether you're a developer, builder, lender, manufacturer, or educator navigating the realities of prefab delivery, this is a room worth being in.
