Today, students and staff walked to Mallorytown’s Oak Ridge Trail. We walked the beautiful trails and along the way participated in mindfulness activities where we used our senses to be with nature. A big thank you to our guide, Kim Goodman for leading us through the trails and activities. Students can visit the trails with their families as a great free nature outing!🙂

Tremendous gratitude to our special guests at FOY today as they taught our students how to make Bannock which became a staple of the fur trade blending Indigenous traditions and European settler influence. Students made the dough, helped others, added ingredients and cooked it. They also learned about the history of it. In the afternoon, they enjoyed their homemade Bannock. Thank you to our special guests for their knowledge, time and for this experience!

Today we celebrated baby Rosie’s last visit to FOY for the Roots of Empathy program. Baby Rosie has grown so much since she first started with us and she’s even walking now! Students have learned a lot about her growth and development throughout the months. She even celebrated a birthday since her last visit. Happy belated birthday Rosie! We will miss you! And thank you to her mom, Maude, for allowing our students to get to know and learn from Rosie.
