✨ Naqsmist Event Planning, Design & Coordination ✨

Naqsmist provides full-service event planning, coordination, and facilitation grounded in the Cultivating Safe Spaces framework.

We partner with organizations to design meetings, retreats, conferences, and gatherings that are intentionally structured to support meaningful dialogue, stronger relationships, and better decisions.

Rather than simply building an agenda around presentations and timelines, we work with organizers to co-design conversations that bring forward multiple perspectives, encourage thoughtful dialogue, and create the conditions for meaningful participation. Our approach helps people move beyond simply sharing information toward building understanding, collaboration, and practical action.

Our services include:
- Event planning and logistics
- Venue selection and vendor coordination
- Registration and participant communications
- Agenda co-design
- Meeting and retreat design using the Cultivating Safe Spaces framework
- Designing conversations that intentionally bring forward diverse perspectives
- Emceeing and event hosting
- Facilitation and group process design
- Speaker and panel coordination
- On-site event management

Our Team 🎉

Sierra Alec leads event planning and logistics, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully coordinated from concept through delivery.

Kyle Alec serves as emcee and facilitator, guiding conversations and creating engaging experiences that support participation, collaboration, and meaningful outcomes.

Elaine Alec serves as a strategic advisor to Kyle and Sierra, providing guidance on event design and agenda architecture.

Together, we combine exceptional event coordination with intentional meeting design to create gatherings that are organized, engaging, and built around the conversations that matter most.

People learn in different ways.

Some of us thrive with a clear structure, step-by-step guidance, and a curriculum to follow. Others learn best by seeing real people navigate real challenges in real time. At Naqsmist, we believe both approaches matter.

That's why our Cultivating Safe Spaces (CSS) eCourses are designed to meet learners where they are—offering practical frameworks, meaningful insights, and opportunities to learn at your own pace.

So, what is Cultivating Safe Spaces?
CSS helps people, teams, and systems build the emotional safety and accountability needed for meaningful change. It equips leaders to regulate under pressure, repair after harm, navigate conflict with care, and stay connected through complexity and change.
Because leadership isn't about avoiding difficult conversations—it's about learning how to move through them well.

Whether you're just beginning your learning journey or looking to deepen your leadership practice, we have an eCourses designed to support you:
✨ CSS Mini eCourse
✨ Introduction to Cultivating Safe Spaces
✨ Enhanced CSS Add-On: For teams
✨ CSS for Executive Leadership
✨ Train the Trainer

Learn on your own schedule, revisit lessons when you need them, and build skills that strengthen relationships, teams, and communities.

What does it take to facilitate difficult conversations, hold accountability, and create environments where people can learn, lead, and grow safely?

Join us on July 8th for our virtual Cultivating Safe Spaces (CSS) Train the Trainer.

This training prepares leaders, educators, practitioners, consultants, and community supporters to confidently facilitate the CSS framework within classrooms, organizations, communities, Nations, and systems.

This isn't about becoming a presenter. It's about learning to embody the framework by:
✔ Cultivating safety
✔ Holding accountability
✔ Teaching the Four Necessary Conditions, Protocols, and Perspectives
✔ Remaining steady in high-pressure situations

Whether you're looking to strengthen your facilitation skills, build capacity within your organization, or deepen your own leadership practice, CSS Train the Trainer meets you where you are.

By the end of the training, you'll be able to:
• Teach the CSS framework responsibly and clearly
• Facilitate difficult conversations without collapse or reaction
• Guide relational repair after harm
• Stay regulated while holding groups
• Integrate CSS principles into teams, departments, and systems

The work of creating safe spaces starts with how we show up.

At Naqsmist, our work is rooted in relationship, responsibility, and truth.
We’re honoured to introduce Kyle Alec.

Kyle is the CEO and co-founder of Naqsmist, which he launched alongside his mother, Elaine Alec, in 2023 with a shared vision of creating meaningful impact through community, leadership, and authentic relationships.

While Kyle is often working behind the scenes, his influence can be felt across the organization. From supporting the team and strengthening operations to helping shape the direction of Naqsmist, he’s dedicated to creating the conditions for both people and communities to thrive.

While much of his work happens out of the spotlight, you may also spot Kyle facilitating True Colors workshops, where he enjoys helping individuals, teams, and organizations better understand themselves and the people around them.

Outside of work, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife, Sierra, and their two beloved dogs. Whether he’s tending to his ever-growing collection of houseplants, building model kits, cycling around Penticton, or wandering the local farmers’ market with Sierra, he’s always finding joy in learning, creating, and connecting.

Kyle leads with a people-first mindset and believes that strong relationships, lifelong learning, and a little creativity can make a big difference. We’re grateful for his leadership and excited to share a little more about the person behind the role.

National Indigenous Peoples Day – June 21

We’re taking a moment at Naqsmist Storytellers to pause, reflect, and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day.

This day falls on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, which has long been a time of meaning, gathering, and celebration for many Indigenous communities. It’s a time to honour the rich cultures, histories, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across these lands.

For us, this day is also deeply personal. We’re grateful to have team members from T’ondëk Hwëch’in, Carcross/Tagish First Nation, and the Penticton Indian Band. Your stories, perspectives,
and lived experiences shape who we are and how we do this work. We learn from you every day.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is not just about recognition, it’s also about reflection and responsibility. It’s an opportunity for all of us to think about our shared history, listen with open hearts, and continue learning in ways that truly matter.

If you’re wondering how to honour National Indigenous Peoples Day in a meaningful way, here are a few simple ideas:
✨ Check out a local Indigenous-led event, market, or celebration in your community
✨ Take some time to learn about the Nation whose land you’re on
✨ Support Indigenous artists, businesses, and storytellers
✨ Spend time listening, whether that’s through a conversation, a book, music, or film
✨ Share what you learn with others and keep the conversation going

Even small actions can help build deeper understanding and stronger connections.
Today & every day, we are committed to listening, learning, and uplifting Indigenous voices with care & respect.

Kyle, Sierra, Wynette & Ian
