* If you are an educator looking for unique ways to engage your students in their learning, this post is for you. *

* If you are a clinician who works with kids and teens and you are looking for experiential modalities to add to your practice, this post is for you. *

I want to invite you to a special webinar, "Building Confidence & Resilience: Helping Kids Thrive Through Partnering with Horses", where we will dive into how horses act as "four-legged teachers" to help kids build essential life skills.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

• The Connection: Unlike traditional talk therapy, horses provide real-time, non-judgmental feedback on a child's internal state (e.g., a horse stepping away when energy is dysregulated).

• Practical Skills Transfer: The "magic" happens when we bridge the gap—helping the child see how the calm energy they used to lead the horse can be used when they feel frustrated.

• Experiential Learning: Instead of talking about patience or leadership in an office or a classroom, kids practice it in real-time with a live partner.

• Ground-Based Safety: There is no riding involved. This keeps the focus on the relationship, boundaries, and communication rather than horsemanship skills.

• Social-Emotional Growth: Research shows significant improvements in self-efficacy, resilience, and emotional regulation (often by 12%–28%) in kids who have participated in equine assisted learning.

• Who it’s for: Anyone! I also offer tailored programs for neurodivergent youth, at-risk teens, and children facing anxiety or trauma.

Why Horses?

Why not dogs/cats/goats/hamsters?

Horses are prey animals. They are constantly assessing their environment for signs of danger or threats. They truly "live in the moment", because if they don't, they will be attacked by predators.

Horses calm us. The science behind the biomechanics of a horse's energy is incredible; they can regulate our nervous systems and sync our heartbeats to theirs just by being near them.

Horses mirror us and our feelings and behaviours. If a horse is approached by someone with high, nervous energy, then they will have a horse with high, nervous energy on their hands. This is the immediate feedback we get from horses; we cannot lie about our feelings to a horse--they already know how we are feeling the second we get near them.

So why horses? If you're still asking, come to a workshop to feel the 'why' for yourself.

Every horse person will attest to the feeling they have after spending time around our equine friends.

Some of that feeling is definitely sheer exhaustion from trying to halter a 18.5 hh toddler percheron, but it's more than that.

The calm. The peace. The clarity.

I've headed to the barn some days so DONE from work, life, family...but by the time I leave the barn, I can't remember what made me so mad in the first place.

Horses have a direct physical and mental effect on our minds and our bodies...and our souls. ❤️

Equine friends....one of our own needs our help.

Varielle Wallace works at Bahr Saddlery and has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of brain cancer. Please give what you can to help her parents to stay by her side to support her fight.

I know the horse community will come out for Varielle.

Fight hard, Varielle. We are all in your corner.

10 Ways Horses Remember

1. In the places they hesitate.

2. In the direction they look before stepping forward.

3. In the people they soften toward, and the ones they guard against.

4. In the way they exhale when they realize they’re safe.

5. In the posture that once saved them.

6. In the patterns of tension that never quite left their necks.

7. In the way they seek comfort when unsure.

8. In their favorite patch of shade or spot in the paddock.

9. In the way they greet a halter—or turn away.

10. In their stillness when they’ve said all they can.

Every scar, pause, and sigh holds memory.

Some stories are loud, written in movement and resistance. Others are quiet, woven through muscle and breath.

A horse remembers the moments that shaped their safety—both the soft and the sharp.

When you meet a horse, you’re meeting all the people and pressures that came before you. But you’re also being offered a chance to add a new memory—one of peace, patience, and presence.

How you listen shapes what heals.
And what heals in one horse ripples into the next, until gentleness becomes the language we all remember.

If this resonates, save it, share it, and carry it into your next quiet moment together.
