MINI ME MUSIC

November 2026 Registration Now Open!

A music and movement program for babies and young children, designed to support connection, communication, movement, musical development and social interaction through playful, age-appropriate experiences.

Our next 6-week session begins Tuesday, November 3.

👩‍🍼INFANTS | 0–8/9 months
9:30–10:00 AM
A gentle, calming class for babies and their caregivers. Sessions include soft live and prerecorded music, singing, rocking and bouncing, gentle baby massage, sensory exploration and interactive play. A welcoming opportunity for caregivers to connect with their baby and meet other parents in the same stage.

👶BABIES | 9/10–18 months
10:15–11:00 AM
For crawling, cruising and early-walking babies. Explore music through singing, movement, instruments, scarves, action songs and playful activities that encourage communication, coordination, imitation and social interaction.

🧒TODDLERS | 19 months–3 years
11:15 AM–12:00 PM
A lively, hands-on music experience featuring singing, movement, instruments, rhythm activities, imaginative play and familiar children's songs. Activities encourage language, listening, motor development, turn-taking, confidence and musical exploration.

6-week program: $150 + HST
📍Dance Xcetera, 1040 Colborne Street West, Brantford

Parent/caregiver participation required.
All abilities and developmental levels are welcome.

Spaces are limited.

Preschool programming for ages 3–5 will be offered in the future. If you’re interested in this age group, send us a message to be added to the waitlist!

🎹 Another little Chickadee update!

I’m also very excited to announce that I’ll be joining Art with Heart Studio in Simcoe as an instructor and music therapist!

I’ll be teaching at the studio three evenings a week, with the possibility of expanding my availability as things grow.

I’ll be offering private music lessons through the studio, being a part of another space where students can learn, grow and enjoy making music in a welcoming environment.

I’m really looking forward to being part of the Art with Heart community and continuing to grow Chickadee Music Services in new ways!

This is a pretty exciting next step for Chickadee, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes!

Exciting News - Chickadee is Expanding to Woodstock!

I’m so excited to share that Chickadee Music Services is expanding into the Woodstock area!
I’ve recently connected with the wonderful team at Oxford Speech Plus, and I’m looking forward to working alongside them to offer music therapy services to children and families in the Woodstock community.

Music therapy can support communication, language development, social skills, emotional expression, regulation, attention and so much more! All through something children already love: music!

If you’re already working with Oxford Speech Plus and are interested in exploring music therapy for your child, you can speak with your therapist about connecting with me. You’re also welcome to reach out to me directly through Chickadee Music Services by message or email.

🎵 Music Therapy Moment 🎵

One of the sweetest moments this week involved a baby...

Well... a baby doll. 😊

A resident was gently rocking their doll and telling me they were trying to get him to sleep.

So I asked,

"Would it help if we sang him a lullaby?"

Before long, three residents were gathered together singing familiar songs, smiling, clapping, and enjoying the moment together trying to get this "baby" to sleep!

It's funny how music has a way of meeting people exactly where they are.

Sometimes that means singing a favourite country song.

Sometimes it means helping a baby doll fall asleep.

And honestly... that's what I love most about music therapy.

It brings people together, creates moments of connection, and helps each person work toward their own goals through music.

🎵 Monday Music Therapy Moment 🎵

This week, someone shared a childhood song that their mother used to sing.

So, of course... we sang it together.

As the song ended, they smiled and quietly said, "That reminds me of my mom."

For the next little while, we sat together talking about childhood memories, family traditions, and the songs that have stayed with them all these years.

That's one of the things I love about music.

A simple melody can unlock stories that haven't been shared in years.

Those moments remind me that music therapy isn't just about singing songs.

Sometimes it's about helping someone reconnect with a piece of themselves.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of bringing music into some really meaningful spaces in our community 💛

Today I want to highlight Adult Recreation Therapy Centre, a place that has been supporting adults in our community for many years through programs that focus on connection, independence, and overall well being.

They provide adult day programs and therapeutic recreation opportunities for seniors, adults with disabilities, and caregivers, all in a really supportive and welcoming environment where people can feel comfortable and included.

I’ve had the opportunity to come in on a contract with an amazing music therapy business, Beyond the Studio and lead music sessions here, and it’s been such a grounding and meaningful experience. Music in this space has a way of opening people up, bringing out connection, and creating moments of joy that feel really real and human.

If you’re in the Brantford area and looking for supportive programming for a loved one, this is a place worth knowing about.

I’m excited to share that today I’ll be presenting a workshop for the Grand Erie District School Board focused on supporting transitions for students with special needs using music!

Through Chickadee Music Services, I’m passionate about using music-based approaches to help students feel supported, regulated, and confident during times of change.

Grateful for the opportunity to connect with educators, educational assistants, and contribute to meaningful conversations around student success 💛
