Community excellence is more than just working in the health-care system, it’s about having the courage to transform it.

Three of TMU’s newest MD students Deneisha Hammith, Andrew Faller-Saunders and Justice Ryan, embody what it means to be empathic, socially accountable leaders in their communities.

Now, as members of ’s second cohort, they are bringing these skills to their medical training, helping advance the School of Medicine’s mission to train future physicians who provide outstanding holistic health care, lead health system transformation and help build a better health-care system for all.

In partnership with the federal government, TMU announced a $25 million funding commitment in support of the School of Medicine.

As the School of Medicine continues to grow in its second year, this funding strengthens our ability to train physicians and improve access to care in Peel Region and across Canada.

We’re deeply grateful to the Government of Canada, including Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada, Logement, Infrastructures et Collectivités Canada, and Region of Peels federal Members of Parliament, Hon. Shafqat Ali and Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown for their support in making this milestone possible.

A major milestone for TMU’s School of Medicine — and for the future of health care in Peel Region.

Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Medicine has secured $25 million in federal capital funding to support the continued development of its Brampton campus.

This historic investment will help complete the redevelopment of the former Bramalea Civic Centre, including additional state-of-the-art facilities and training spaces for medical students and residents.

With more than 400 undergraduate and postgraduate learners now enrolled, the School of Medicine is entering an exciting new stage of growth — strengthening our ability to train physicians and improve access to primary health care in Peel Region and across Canada.

We’re deeply grateful to the Government of Canada, including Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada, Logement, Infrastructures et Collectivités Canada, and Region of Peel’s federal Members of Parliament, Hon. Long before they put on their stethoscopes at TMU, Jordan Meikle, Isabelle Chan and Manroop Phagura were learning about health care in their own communities.

Growing up in Peel Region, each saw different ways that culture, language, representation and access can shape a person’s experience with the health-care system.

Now, as members of 's second MD cohort, they are bringing those lessons into their medical training—part of the School of Medicine’s mission to train health-care professionals from Peel, for Peel.

On Sept. 10, hosted its second-ever Stethoscope Ceremony. The Class of 2030 received their first engraved stethoscopes, took their MD student oath and marked an important step in their journey — one grounded in listening, connection and a commitment to caring for others.
