SAFETY ON EVERY JOURNEY
As students return to school, South Simcoe Police officers will increase their presence in elementary school zones across Innisfil and Bradford West Gwillimbury from September 8 to 10.
During school drop-off and pick-up times, officers will be focused on keeping school zones safe and reminding drivers to slow down, stay alert and watch for children, pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.
Officers will also be monitoring for speeding, distracted driving, seat belt violations and other unsafe driving behaviours. Drivers are reminded that community safety zones carry higher penalties for certain offences.
Our communities are shared by people travelling in many different ways. Whether you are driving, walking, cycling or taking another form of transportation, safety is a shared responsibility.
Be patient. Stay alert. Slow down.
Help keep our school zones, our communities and all road users safe - not just at the start of the school year, but every day.
