✨ If you could fast-forward just two weeks and have a completely different sleep story what would you wish for? ✨

When families begin working with me, I always start with a detailed sleep intake form. It’s a chance for parents to share their child’s sleep history, challenges, and goals. My favourite question is this one:

“If you could wave a magic wand and improve your family’s sleep situation, what would that look like?”

Last month when I met 7-month-old B’s family, everyone was running on empty. Here’s what mom and dad wished for:

“Baby sleeps in crib, goes to bed between 7–8. Ideally, sleep through the night… Baby wakes up between 6:30–7:30.”

But here’s what life really looked like:
• Unpredictable daytime sleep
• Short naps (or only contact naps)
• Rocking or feeding to sleep every time — or defaulting to bedsharing
• Up every 1–2 hours overnight
• Two exhausted parents just trying to get through the day

➡️ Swipe through to see how things shifted — from those very first nights to the amazing progress just two weeks later.

This transformation didn’t take months — many big changes happened in just the first two nights! With a clear plan, the right tools, and support along the way, B’s family saw a complete transformation in just two weeks.

So let me ask you: If you could wave a magic wand and transform your family’s sleep in two weeks, what would YOU wish for?

What time did your kids wake up this morning?

———>

☀️ Nothing like a 5:00am toddler wake-up to remind you who’s really in charge.

The truth?

It’s totally normal and developmentally appropriate for little kids to start their day between 6:00–7:00am. But if mornings are consistently starting *before* that, there’s usually a reason — and the good news is, it can be fixed. 🙌

Download my Early Morning Wake-Up Checklist to pinpoint what’s going on and take the first step toward calmer (and later!) mornings.

✨ If bedtime has become a struggle for one (or both!) of you, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I help families put the pieces of toddler sleep together in a way that feels calm, connected, and sustainable.

Ready to feel more confident at bedtime? Send me a message, or book a complimentary discovery call —I’d love to support you.

Have a friend who is struggling with their toddler’s sleep? Do them a favour, and share this post 🤍

Ps. I acknowledge that not all little kids prefer ‘Mommy’, so this post is meant for everyone. But … in many conversations lately, I’ve heard from moms who are feeling burnt out by always having to be ‘on’ for bedtime when they’d prefer to share the role xx

Let’s talk about overtiredness — because it’s so much more than just a tired baby.

When babies (and bigger kids!) stay awake too long, their bodies shift from sleepy to stressed.

Instead of winding down, they get a second wind — fueled by cortisol and adrenaline.

It’s like their body says, “Let’s rally!” when what they really need is sleep.

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬:
• Crying or fussing during wind-down or bedtime
• Arching, flailing, or pushing away when you try to soothe
• Short naps (20–30 min) or skipped naps altogether
• Frequent night wakings, especially after midnight
• Early morning wake-ups
• Trouble falling asleep, even when clearly tired
• Easily overstimulated or extra clingy during the day
• Baby seems ‘wired’ when you know they should be tired

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧?
- Wake windows are too long
- Sleepy cues are missed
- Busy days or skipped routines
- Developmental leaps or illness

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞:
✓ Know your baby’s maximum awake time — These change as they grow!
✓ Watch for sleepy signs — If you’re seeing eye-rubbing, zoning out, or crankiness, you might already be just past the sweet spot. Try winding down a little earlier next time.
✓ Keep a consistent wind-down routine — Just 10-15 minutes of calm, familiar steps can help signal it’s time to sleep. It doesn’t need to be fancy—just predictable.

𝐀𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲? 𝐓𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬:
• Move baby to a dark, calm space, with white noise, until they seem calm
• Hold or rock a little longer — they may need more support to fall asleep
• Offer a contact nap if the day’s gone off track
• Use an early bedtime to help them catch up
• Stick with your routine the next day — it can take a few days to fully reset

𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬.

If your baby is ‘overtired’ it doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Sometimes, you just need a little extra support to get sleep back on track.

If you’re feeling stuck in the overtired cycle (or just tired of being tired), I’m here to help.

Let’s chat 🤍

You know those days where everything feels off—mornings start super early, naps are short, bedtime’s a battle, and everyone’s a little cranky?

Sometimes, the fix is as simple as stepping outside 🌲

When we spend time outside in natural light, it helps regulate our circadian rhythm (our body’s internal clock), which makes falling asleep easier and staying asleep more likely.

Plus, meaningful play outdoors helps build up that precious sleep pressure—the biological drive to sleep that comes from being active and awake.

So if you’re wondering what to do during those long awake windows… this is your gentle nudge to step outside ☀️

Sleep isn’t just nice to have—it’s a game-changer for families. Good sleep helps kids learn, keeps everyone healthier, and makes life way smoother. No April Fool’s pranks here—just real reasons to prioritize sleep!

Let’s take a deeper look at why sleep is beneficial for your whole family:

1️⃣ Sleep boosts brainpower.
Sleep is like a reset button for the brain—it strengthens memory, improves focus, and helps with problem-solving. For kids, that means better learning, stronger attention spans, and fewer frustrated tears over tricky tasks. For parents, it means remembering where you put your coffee!

2️⃣ Sleep strengthens immunity.
Sleep is like a natural booster for the immune system. While you rest, your body produces proteins that help fight off infections. Well-rested kids and parents get sick less often and recover faster when they do!

3️⃣ Sleep improves mood.
Sleep plays a huge role in regulating our emotions. When we sleep, our brains process emotions and help reset our mood centers, so we wake up feeling more balanced. For both kids and adults, sleep boosts the production of mood-regulating chemicals, which helps us stay calm, patient, and focused throughout the day.

4️⃣ Sleep increases energy.
While you sleep, your brain and body work together to repair, refresh, and recharge. Your muscles recover, your brain processes all the day’s information, and your energy stores get refilled. This means that when you wake up after a good night’s sleep, your body and brain are ready to tackle the day!

✨Ready to experience the benefits of sleep for your family, but not sure where to begin? As a pediatric sleep coach, I help families like yours learn how to prioritize sleep so you can enjoy all the incredible benefits of sleeping well. Moving your little one to their own room is a big milestone — exciting but also a little nerve-wracking (mostly for you!).

If you’re getting ready to make the transition, here are five tips to make it smooth and stress-free. 👇🏼

1️⃣ Start with Familiar Sleep Cues
Use your same bedtime routine in the nursery for 3-4 nights before the big move. After the nursery routine, put baby to sleep in your room as usual. This helps baby feel at home in their new space.

2️⃣ Ease Into It
Try starting with just naps in the nursery for a week or so before making the full switch at night. This gives baby time to adjust gradually.

3️⃣ Make It Feel Like Home
Spend time in the nursery during the day—play, feed, or do diaper changes there. The more familiar the space, the easier the transition!

4️⃣ Use a Monitor (but don’t stare at it all night!)
It’s totally normal to feel nervous! A monitor gives peace of mind, but trust that baby is okay—you don’t need to check every 5 minutes 🤍

5️⃣ Stay Consistent
Once you make the move, try to stick with it! A little adjustment period is normal, so you can expect some disruptions to sleep, but babies thrive on routine, and consistency will help them settle in.

Cheering you on as you take this next step! 🤍
