Half an hour, one book, one pony, no pressure.
Horses are calm, non-judgmental company. They don't care what you're reading or how well you read it. They just stand there, present, while you do. For a lot of kids, that's the whole appeal. No one's grading them. No one's waiting for them to mess up.

Our fall program for neurodivergent adolescents runs four weeks, building communication, emotional regulation, and connection alongside a horse who never asks for more than what’s actually there.

I see this again and again with the women who come through here. Accomplished. Used to leading, not following. Then a horse refuses them, flat out, and all that experience doesn't move it an inch.

Someone put it clearly into words for me recently. All that experience leading people, and the horse gave none of it back. The woman stepped back, breathed, squared her shoulders, and decided all over again.

What an afternoon. On Monday our homeschool families came out for Meet The Herd, and honestly, it was just good. Coffee in hand, kids everywhere, ponies doing what ponies do.

Clara and Solly were the stars, as usual. Curious, gentle, letting themselves be fussed over by every kid who came close. There's something about watching a baby pony lean into a child's hand that just settles a room.

That's really what this was. A place for homeschool families to gather, slow down, and be together for an hour. Nothing more complicated than that, and I don't think it needed to be.

Because so many showed up and seemed to genuinely enjoy it, we're doing it again. October 19th at 1pm. Mark your calendars, I'll post the details closer to the date.

Thank you to our beautiful homeschool families for trusting us with your Monday afternoon. You're a good group of people, and the herd thinks so too.

Homeschoolers Powered By Horses

Twenty homeschool families came out yesterday for our first Meet the Herd day. Coffee and donuts in the barn, chairs set up so people could sit and talk, and small groups taken out in turns to meet the ponies and the two foals.

The highlight: how much of the hour ended up being homeschool parents getting to know each other over coffee while others took turns saying hello to a horse. This might have been the best part.

There will be more of these.

If your daughter's navigating the usual adolescent minefield, the social pressure, the comparison, the pressure to seem fine even when she's not, you already know talking about it only goes so far.
BeYou@TheBarn puts her in front of a horse that doesn't care how she's performing for anyone. Four weeks, real skills, communication, confidence, resilience, built through something she actually has to show up and do, not just talk about.
Level 1 runs Tuesdays starting September 15. Level 2 starts October 22 for girls who've completed Level 1. Message me for details.
