More progress on this gigantesque animation background! This has reinvigorated my love of Holbein Acryla Gouache paint

Sometimes the "onion skin" ability in animation creates its own incredible artistic effect! For folks unfamiliar with animation, this allows you to see the many drawings before and after the frame you're currently drawing on, to help you guide the motion. This is what makes animation possible. Back in yee ol' days, animators would "flip" by using a light table and have up to 8 frames between each finger on their hand(s), and they'd learn to move each paper quickly back and forth to see the motion through the paper. Animation is magic.

2 hours of digital painting compressed to 1 minute! Getting back to some illustrations for a client's children's book after some busy days of marketing, teaching, and other misc. projects!
Still feel far away from finishing this one.

We had our first Plein Air Painters outing! Here are some pictures of our visit to the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens this past Sunday.
