Join the Graphic and Digital Design (UFV GRAPHIC + DIGITAL DESIGN) department Assistant Professor Marcia Higuchi Marcia Higuchi and Associate Professor Trevor Embury Trevor Embury at the University of the Fraser Valley (University of the Fraser Valley - UFV) for our public lecture series, Counterforms: Practices, Theories, and Methods. Explore the complexities of design across its various modalities, from practice and activism to discipline and ways of knowing, and beyond.
Participants will engage with academics and practitioners who challenge conventional understandings and reveal often overlooked dimensions of design.
For our 2026 series, our speakers are Assistant Professor Dr. Gabriela Kurtz (September 24) from the School of Communications and Associate Professor Parjad Sharifi Parjad Sharifi پرژاد شريفي (October 22) from the School of Creative Arts UFV SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS. Each session promises to broaden horizons and provoke critical thinking, examining creative practices as a catalyst for community building, pushing boundaries, and driving social change, as well as a disciplined practice grounded in theory and exploration.
