CAPS ATHLETICS COMPETITIONS 2026

A cloudy ☁️🌤🌧 morning marked by light rainfall, giving way to what was set to be a joyous day for young learners who hope to one day see themselves dawning the sky blue, black and white of Botswana 🇧🇼 on the national and/or international stage.

A day that felt just right 👌🏽 for a runner 🏃‍♀️ to cool their bodies as their muscles kicked into overdrive, yearning for victory.

On this day, the 15th of March 2026, CAPS Athletics Competitions were held in Serowe, hosted by Adelaide. CAPS is an association of private schools and home to schools from Francistown through Selibe Phikwe and Palapye, to Mahalapye and Shoshong and then coming to Serowe. Due to circumstances beyond control, only 4 of 12 schools were able to partake in the competitions.

After much fun as well as tough competition, the results for the competition were as follows

1. Adelaide Primary School (Serowe)
2. St Anthony Primary School (Palapye)
3. Mount Pleasant Primary School (S/Phikwe)
4. Royal Primary School (Palapye)

Many thanks to the association who continue to give learners a platform to hone athletic skills.

We furthermore thank the participating schools, the teaching staff of all schools, the learners of all the schools, and ultimately the cheering parents/guardians of our learners.

CAPS ATHLETICS COMPETITIONS 2026

This weekend, Saturday the 14th of March 2026, we shall be hosting the CAPS Athletics competitions. These shall be held at the Serowe Sports Complex.

We take this moment to wish our team luck, where they shall face off against at least 7 private schools in our region.

We invite all our parents and guardians to es**rt us, and cheer for our learners.

PUBLIC STATEMENT

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF SOME SCHOOLS IN THE NORTH EAST DISTRICT AND PANDAMATENGA

The Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education has noted the torrential rains that the northern parts of Botswana have been experiencing in the past few days. These continuous rains have not only caused flash flooding in some areas but they have also cut off some of the roads in these areas, resulting in learners’ movement to and from school being affected.

In lieu of the above, the Ministry has therefore decided to temporarily close schools in the North East district (forty-three (43) Primary, ten (10) Junior Secondary and one (1) Senior School) and Pandamatenga Primary School in Pandamatenga from today, Friday 23rd January until further notice. The situation will be monitored continuously with all the relevant stakeholders and an update be given in due course.

The Ministry further advices parents and guardians to ensure the safety of children at all times and also monitor their whereabouts.
