BAMALETE LUTHERAN SCHOOL of NURSING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Where is Bamalete Lutheran School of Nursing located?
• The institution is located in the South East region of Botswana, in a village called Ramotswa; plot number 11442, Ga- Siko ward. The village is approximately 34 kms from the Capital City, Gaborone.

2. Does the institution admit all candidates despite their religions?
• Yes. No candidate shall be discriminated against because of their race, nationality, gender, s*x, colour, ethnic originality, disability, age and socio-economic background.

3. Is the institution funded by Government?
• Yes. The institution is 100% funded by Botswana Government.

4. Is the institution BQA accredited?
• Yes.

5. What programmes does the institution offer?
• The institution offers an Advanced Diploma in Midwifery.

6. What are the said programme requirements?
• Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) or its equivalent, with a minimum of grade D in English, a minimum of grade C in Mathematics, Biology and Physics/Chemistry, Science Double Award, Combined Science and Additional Combined Science or any other combination.
• Diploma in General Nursing with minimum of two years of Nursing practice.
• Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana (NMCB) is mandatory.

7. Any other pre-entry requirements?
• Candidates are subjected to a written interview. The pass mark for the interview shall be 50%.

8. Does the institution recognise prior learning?
• Yes. Candidates shall be treated as per the Articulation, Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy and Procedures (2017) and Academic Regulations (2017). Contact the office of the Academic Registrar for more details.

9. How do I apply?

10. Can non-citizens apply?
• Yes. Verification letter from the Examination Council or professional bodies is required for students holding foreign certificates.
• Accepted students shall be in possession of valid travel documents, visas, residence permit and/or study permit.

11. Can one apply online?
• No. Applicants can however request application forms from the institution and any other information they may need.

12. Is there an application fee?
• Yes. P50.00 for citizens and non- citizens (SADC). P75.00 for non- citizens (outside SADC). Applications must be accompanied by POP. Contact the institution for more details.
